Job summary

Henderson Engineers in Phoenix seeks a Telecommunications Designer to design telecom systems for commercial, healthcare, higher education, and data center projects. Responsibilities include floor plans, room layouts, cabling pathways, and coordination with architectural and MEP teams to deliver construction documents.

Preferred candidates have a related technical degree and 1+ year telecom design experience, plus proficiency with Revit and Bluebeam Revu. Travel up to 15% may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in a related technical field.
• 1+ year of telecommunications design experience in A&E/MEP environments.
• Experience preparing construction documents for telecom systems.
• Working knowledge of TIA standards and NEC requirements for telecom infrastructure.
• Proficiency with Revit and Bluebeam Revu.
• Experience coordinating with architectural and MEP disciplines on building projects.
• Understanding of telecom rooms, pathways, backbone/horizontal cabling, and equipment layouts.
• Strong communication and organizational skills; ability to work in a collaborative design environment.

Responsibilities

• Prepare telecommunications design documents: floor plans, room layouts, riser diagrams, pathway drawings, schedules, and specs.
• Design structured cabling infrastructure per standards and project criteria.
• Coordinate telecom systems with architectural and MEP disciplines across all design phases.
• Assist with pathway sizing, room space planning, equipment layouts, and related calculations.
• Participate in design reviews, coordination meetings, and quality control processes.
• Review submittals, shop drawings, RFIs, and site conditions for project conformance.
• Conduct site visits and condition assessments; support project delivery.
• Collaborate with clients, architects, engineers, contractors, and technology consultants.
• Support project schedules, budgets, and deliverables under senior staff guidance.
• Develop proficiency in industry-standard design software and tools.
