Job summary

Henderson Engineers is seeking a Telecommunications Designer to design and document telecom systems for commercial, healthcare, higher education, and mission-critical environments. You will prepare floor plans, CAD/BIM layouts, and coordination with multiple disciplines, ensuring compliance with industry standards.

The role requires familiarity with TIA and NEC standards, Revit and Bluebeam Revu, and collaboration with project teams. Travel up to 15% is anticipated.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related technical field is preferred.
• 1+ year of telecommunications design experience in an A&E environment preferred.
• Working knowledge of TIA standards, NEC requirements related to telecommunications infrastructure, and building design practices.
• Proficiency with Revit and Bluebeam Revu.
• Experience coordinating with architectural and MEP disciplines on building projects.

Responsibilities

• Prepare telecommunications design documents including floor plans, room layouts, riser diagrams, pathway drawings, equipment room layouts, details, schedules, and specifications.
• Design structured cabling infrastructure and telecommunications systems per standards and project criteria.
• Coordinate telecommunications systems with architectural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and technology disciplines throughout all design phases.
• Assist with pathway sizing, room space planning, equipment layouts, and related calculations.
• Participate in design reviews, coordination meetings, and quality control processes.
• Review submittals, shop drawings, RFIs, and field conditions for conformance with project requirements.
• Conduct site visits and construction observation activities as required.
• Collaborate with clients, architects, engineers, contractors, and technology consultants to support project delivery.
• Develop proficiency in industry-standard design software including Revit, Bluebeam Revu, and MS Office.
• Travel up to 15% of the time
