Northern Virginia Electric Cooperative (NOVEC) in Manassas, VA is seeking a Telecommunications Specialist to manage and maintain its telecom systems including telephone, cellular, data devices, LMR, and fiber networks. The role emphasizes ensuring reliability, updating procedures, and coordinating with contractors on upgrades.

Ideal candidates have 2+ years of telecom experience, familiarity with VIA systems, and experience with iPhone/iPad devices.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of telecommunications experience required.
• Associate degree in a technical field preferred.
• Experience with VIA systems is preferred.
• iPhone and iPad experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Completes phone system programming changes and manages employee names in the systems.
• Troubleshoots telecom problems, conducts root-cause analysis, and coordinates corrective actions.
• Writes and updates procedures for telecom systems and keeps them current.
• Maintains accurate records of telecom equipment and changes.
• Writes and updates operational instructions for telecom gear and media.
• Oversees telecom-related activities and coordinates upgrades (telephone, microwave, fiber, SIP, PRIs).
• Oversees cellular and radio communications for distributed SCADA devices.
• Monitors and maintains radios, workstations, and LMR system; updates firmware/software.
• Coordinates inspections and maintenance of telecom towers, buildings and generators.
