Job summary

The Wayne County Charter County in Detroit is seeking a Department Manager 1 (Telecommunications) to oversee setup and maintenance of telecom services and devices. You will provision VoIP, mobile devices, video and conferencing, and legacy systems while coordinating with vendors and internal teams.

You will manage tickets, maintain databases, and learn new telecom software as technology evolves. Travel to various county locations may be required to support exchanges and service delivery.

Qualifications

• Associates degree in a related field; OR additional years of experience accepted in lieu of degree.
• Three years’ experience using Microsoft Office Suite O365.
• Three years’ experience using and troubleshooting IOS devices.
• Three years’ experience managing mobile devices, VoIP telephone systems, and assisting others with Cisco desk phones and voicemail setup.

Responsibilities

• May travel to WC locations to assist with cell phone exchanges.
• Effectively manage time with multiple tickets and assignments to ensure timely completion.
• Problem solve and assist customers over the phone.
• Clearly communicate information via the phone and in writing to employees and vendors.
• Accurately record and update Telecom databases and accounts.
• Learn applications and set up/manage all VoIP services and related devices.
• Attend necessary training to keep up with technology changes.
• Establish relationships to meet department goals and objectives.
• Schedule or ensure phone technician jobs are resolved timely.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
