Job summary

CMIT is seeking a Telephone Systems OSP Technician to install and maintain voice and data infrastructure on the Kirtland AFB in Albuquerque, NM. Duties include LAN cabling, VoIP devices, and cable locating to support base operations.

Required experience in copper/fiber installation and testing, along with strong customer service skills and safety awareness. A valid NM driver’s license and security clearance are noted requirements.

Qualifications

• Familiar with copper and fiber installation and testing standards.
• Experience with interior and/or exterior cable installation, maintenance, and testing.
• Knowledge in telecommunications systems and practices.
• Familiarity with copper and fiber cable installation, repair, and cable locating.
• Customer service experience.
• Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions, meet with the customer tactfully and courteously and establish and maintain cooperative relationships.
• Understanding of safety practices in telecom environments.
• Experience with tools/test equipment for installation and maintenance of telephone/data networks.
• Self-starter with ability to direct activities of other team members.
• Diplomatic, multi-task capable, adaptable to a dynamic environment.

Responsibilities

• Install and maintain voice and data infrastructure throughout the installation.
• Install, terminate, test, and activate LAN cabling and telecommunication end devices, including VoIP devices.
• Locate cables for dig permits; interior and exterior cable repairs.
• Occasional copper and fiber cable splicing and testing.
• Install other low voltage cables or low speed circuits.
• Perform installations according to base, industry, and safety standards.
