Job summary

CMIT on Kirtland Air Force Base in Albuquerque, NM is seeking a Telephone Systems OSP Technician to install and maintain voice and data networks, including VoIP devices and LAN cabling. You will locate cables for permits, perform copper and fiber testing, and ensure all work meets safety standards.

Responsibilities include completing work orders, coordinating with customers and permitting offices, and documenting work in electronic records.

Qualifications

• Must be familiar with copper and fiber installation and testing standards.
• Experience with interior/exterior cable installation, maintenance, and testing.
• Knowledge of telecommunications systems and practices.
• Familiarity with copper and fiber cable installation, repair, and locating.
• Customer service experience.
• Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions and work with customers.
• Understanding of safety practices and regulations in telecom environments.
• Experience with tools/test equipment for telecommunication installations.

Responsibilities

• Install and maintain voice and data infrastructure throughout the installation.
• Install, terminate, test, and activate LAN cabling and telecommunication end devices (VoIP).
• Locate cables for dig permits; perform interior/exterior cable repairs.
• Splice copper and fiber cables; test cables.
• Install other low voltage cables or low speed circuits.
• Follow base, industry, and safety standards; complete work orders and outage reports.
• Coordinate with customers, permitting office, and other work centers.
• Document and record work in electronic systems; label and organize records.
• Coordinate with customers and other contractors on requirements.
