Job summary

CMIT on Kirtland AFB in Albuquerque, NM seeks a Telephone Systems OSP Technician to install and maintain voice and data infrastructure across the installation, with a focus on on-base cabling and telecom devices.

Responsibilities include copper/fiber installation, testing, activation of LAN cabling and VoIP devices, cable locating for permits, and coordinating with customers and other work centers, while documenting all work in electronic records systems.

Qualifications

• Familiar with copper and fiber installation, testing, and repair.
• Experience with interior/exterior cable installation and testing.
• Knowledge of telecommunications systems and practices.
• Ability to understand oral and written instructions and work with customers and coworkers.
• Commitment to safety practices and regulations in telecom environments.
• Experience with installation tools and test equipment.

Responsibilities

• Install and maintain voice and data infrastructure across the installation.
• Install, terminate, test, and activate LAN cabling and VoIP devices.
• Locate cables for dig permits; interior and exterior cable repairs.
• Occasional copper and fiber cable splicing, and cable testing.
• Install other low voltage cables or low speed circuits.
• Document, label, and record all work in electronic records systems.
• Coordinate with customers and permitting offices; other work centers.
• Complete work orders, dig permit requests, or outage reports.
• Coordinate with the customer on requirements and with other contractors as needed.
