Job summary

Bowhead is seeking a Telecommunication Mechanic II to install, maintain, troubleshoot, and document voice, data, fiber optic, and copper telecom infrastructure at Goodfellow AFB. The role involves working independently and in teams, with emphasis on safety and customer service.

The candidate will perform PMIs, diagnose and repair copper/fiber systems, and support VoIP and traditional telephone systems, while updating records and coordinating with government personnel and contractors.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; technical training preferred.
• Three or more years of experience installing, maintaining, and repairing telecom systems.
• Knowledge of copper and fiber optic cabling and ISP/OSP infrastructure.
• Experience with VoIP, analog, and digital telephone systems.
• Ability to read technical manuals, wiring diagrams, and telecom records.

Responsibilities

• Install, maintain, and repair telecommunications systems and equipment.
• Perform PMIs and diagnose copper/fiber optic cabling issues.
• Terminate, splice, and certify copper and fiber optic cabling.
• Support VoIP, analog, and digital telephone systems.
• Handle adds/moves/changes/removals of telecom equipment.
• Maintain maintenance records and update databases/drawings.
