Position Purpose

TheTelecomOSP Fiber Construction Worker position is your first step to a rewarding career in the construction and maintenance of our nation’s Power Grid. An equipmentoperator’sprimarily responsible for performing support tasks for fiber cable construction, repair, or maintenance.

• Operating vehicles and equipment in a professional manner

Tasks

• Works safely while performing new fiber cable construction, maintenance, or repair work
• Efficientlyoperatea mini excavator
• Properly inspectsrubber goods and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
• Understands when to wear personal protective equipment
• Maintains company vehicles, equipment, and tools in good working order
• Able to perform rigorous physical labor
• Understand the proper use and maintenance of hand tools
• Understands the basic concepts of equipment set up and grounding
• Capable of working at heights and/or confined spaces
• Understands excavation and shoring requirements
• Capable of receiving and following directions
• Must be able to work outside,frequentlyin inclement weather
• Does all other related work asrequiredto complete the job

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depthperceptionand ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this job,team-membersmayfrequentlybe exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanicalpartsand vibration.Team-membersare occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions atconstructionjob sites. The noise level in the work environment can be loud. Powerline construction work is performed outside and is subject to diverse weather conditions.

Required Qualifications

• Must have a ValidDriversLicense and an acceptable driving record

• Able to work for extended periods in various locations, whenrequired
• Able to lift anexcess50 lbs.
• Willing to work overtime when requested

Preferred Qualifications

• CDL Permit or the ability to obtain a CDL license within90 daysof hire
