NextGen | GTA: A Kelley Telecom Company is seeking an experienced Telecom Network Installer / Transport Engineer in New Berlin, WI. The role covers installation, testing, troubleshooting, and migration of carrier-grade telecom equipment in field settings with some in-office days.

The candidate will work across physical and logical layers, performing migrations, turn-ups, and break-fix activities while coordinating with carriers and internal teams.

Qualifications

• 5–7 years of telecommunications/network transport experience.
• Hands-on experience with carrier-grade transport equipment.
• Experience with Fujitsu FlashWave, Nortel, DCS/DACS or similar platforms.
• Strong ability to test, migrate, and turn-up services.

• Perform migrations of carrier services (PVC/EVC) across router platforms.
• Coordinate with carriers during test and turn-up activities.
• Ensure services are fully operational after installations, migrations, repairs.

Telecom Network Installer / Transport Engineer

Location: New Berlin, WI

Work Model: Field-based / Hybrid – approximately 2 days in office depending on field requirements

Experience: 5–7 years

Travel/Driving: Significant local field driving required; must use own vehicle (mileage will be reimbursed)

We are looking for an experienced Telecom Network Installer / Transport Engineer to support the installation, testing, troubleshooting, migration, and turn-up of carrier-grade telecommunications and transport network equipment.

This is a hands-on field position requiring experience with both physical and logical network layers, transport equipment, circuit migrations, and break-fix activities.

Key Responsibilities

• Install, monitor, test, and troubleshoot telecommunications and transport network equipment.
• Perform testing and diagnostics across Physical Layer and Logical Layer platforms.
• Map, grow, configure, and test transmission equipment, including Fujitsu FlashWave, Nortel Classic, Digital Cross-Connect (DCS/DACS) or similar platforms.
• Work with routers, bridges, multiplexers, concentrators, and associated transport equipment.
• Perform migrations of existing and new carrier services, including PVC/EVC services across various router platforms.
• Use remote testing systems to isolate and resolve circuit continuity and connectivity issues.
• Troubleshoot network outages and perform field break-fix activities.
• Coordinate with carriers, vendors, operations teams, and other providers during test and turn-up activities.
• Ensure services are fully operational following installations, migrations, and repairs.

Required Skills

• 5–7 years of relevant telecommunications/network transport experience.
• Hands-on experience with carrier-grade transport and transmission equipment.
• Experience with Fujitsu FlashWave, Nortel, DCS/DACS, SONET/TDM, optical transport, or similar technologies.
• Experience with circuit migrations, EVC/PVC, Carrier Ethernet, and test & turn-up.
• Strong troubleshooting skills across physical and logical network layers.
• Experience working with routers, multiplexers, fiber/transport systems, and network connectivity.
• Ability to support outages, maintenance activities, and break-fix requirements.
• Comfortable working independently in field environments.

Driving Requirement

• This position involves a significant amount of field driving, and contractors will use their own vehicles. A 4x4 vehicle is preferred, (mileage will be reimbursed)
