Job summary

NextGen | GTA: A Kelly Telecom Company seeks Data Center Technicians L2-L4 for contract positions across the United States. You will join a hands-on team supporting large-scale data center builds, network infrastructure, cabling, hardware installation, and troubleshooting in a high-visibility environment.

Ideal candidates have 1-5+ years in data center or IT infrastructure roles, with hands-on hardware install experience, cabling skills, and the ability to work safely and independently to meet

  • Structured cabling, fiber, copper, patch panels, and cable management.

Responsibilities

  • Install, rack, stack, and decommission data center equipment.
  • Route copper and fiber optic cabling.
  • Patch panel and cable management activities.
  • Connect network and server equipment per engineering documents.
  • Cable labeling, tracing, testing, and troubleshooting.
  • Assist with data center build-out and deployment activities.
  • Follow drawings, rack elevations, floor plans, and installation instructions.
  • Inspect installations for quality and compliance with standards.
  • Troubleshoot basic hardware, connectivity, and cabling issues.
  • Maintain documentation of completed work.
  • Coordinate with engineers, project managers, and other technicians.
  • Follow data center security, safety, and operational procedures.
  • Support additional deployment activities as required.

Job description

This is an exciting contract opportunity with multiple openings in the United States supporting a large-scale data center infrastructure project. We are looking for Data Center Technicians L2-L4 levels with hands-on experience supporting data center builds, network infrastructure, cabling, hardware installation, and troubleshooting. This role is ideal for technicians who want to gain experience working in a large, high-visibility data center environment supporting critical infrastructure and next-generation technology.

If you are a hands-on technician who enjoys working with hardware, cabling, network equipment, and fast-paced infrastructure projects, this is an opportunity to build your data center career while working alongside experienced engineering and field teams. You will gain exposure to large-scale data center deployments, structured cabling, network infrastructure, equipment installation, and troubleshooting while developing skills that can lead to more advanced data center and network engineering opportunities.

Required Skills & Experience

  • 1- 5+ years of experience in a data center, network, telecommunications, or IT infrastructure environment
  • Hands-on experience with data center hardware installation and support
  • Experience with structured cabling, fiber, copper, patch panels, and cable management
  • Ability to rack, stack, install, remove, and replace network/server equipment
  • Basic understanding of networking concepts and data center infrastructure
  • Ability to read and follow technical documentation, diagrams, and work instructions
  • Experience using hand tools and testing equipment
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow safety and security procedures
  • Ability to work in a physically demanding data center environment
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to work independently and meet project deadlines

Desired Skills & Experience

  • Experience with fiber optic and copper cabling
  • Experience with patch panels, cable trays, ladder racks, and structured cabling systems
  • Experience with network equipment installation
  • Experience with switches, routers, servers, and related infrastructure
  • Experience with fiber testing and troubleshooting
  • Familiarity with data center standards and best practices
  • Previous experience supporting hyperscale or enterprise data centers
  • Experience working with Google, AWS, Microsoft, or other large-scale data center environments
  • Relevant data center, networking, or cabling certifications are a plus

What You Will Be Doing

  • Install, rack, stack, and decommission data center equipment
  • Install and route copper and fiber optic cabling
  • Perform patch panel and cable management activities
  • Connect network and server equipment according to engineering documentation
  • Perform cable labeling, tracing, testing, and troubleshooting
  • Assist with data center build-out and infrastructure deployment activities
  • Follow technical drawings, rack elevations, floor plans, and installation instructions
  • Inspect installations for quality and compliance with project standards
  • Troubleshoot basic hardware, connectivity, and cabling issues
  • Maintain accurate documentation of completed work
  • Coordinate with engineers, project managers, and other technicians
  • Follow all data center security, safety, and operational procedures
  • Support additional deployment and infrastructure activities as required
  • 15% Patch Panels / Cable Management
  • 15% Network Infrastructure
  • 10% Testing / Troubleshooting / Documentation
