Job summary
The City of Sarasota seeks a Telecommunications Network Technician to provide installation, maintenance and operational support for the City’s Telecommunications Network, covering hardware, software and related equipment.
Responsibilities include troubleshooting, component installation and repair, vendor liaison, and working with users to determine requirements and system criteria. A strong IT foundation and ability to analyze complex issues are essential.
Qualifications
- Associate degree or higher related to IT/telecommunications.
- CJIS certification within 3 months of hire; fingerprint background check.
- CCNA certification preferred or obtainable within one year.
Responsibilities
- Investigate problems related to telecommunications equipment.
- Use electronic testing equipment to solve telecommunications system problems.
- Maintain external vendor relationships to provide services.
- Install and repair telecommunications system components.
- Consult with users to gather requirements for implementations.
- Provide guidance and technical advice to users on system criteria.
- Review telecommunications system plans for completeness and accuracy.
- Test and modify system segments to meet user/technical requirements.
- Maintain network licensing and support renewals.
- Research and evaluate potential future solutions.
