Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a highly skilled Telecom Core Network Engineer to join our client's advanced technical team in Paarl. You will design, implement, and optimize the core network infrastructure to ensure scalability, reliability, and security across services.

The role requires troubleshooting complex issues and contributing to strategic network evolution within a hybrid work setup. The ideal candidate has a minimum of 5 years in telecom core network engineering, with strong routing

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Telecommunications, or related field.
• Minimum of 5 years hands-on telecom core network engineering experience.
• Deep understanding of routing protocols (BGP, OSPF), MPLS, and packet-switched networking.
• Experience with IP networking, firewalls and security best practices.
• Proficiency in network analysis and troubleshooting tools.
• Experience with CNFs and SDN is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Design, deploy, and maintain the telecom core network, including routing, switching, and signaling elements.
• Optimize network performance, capacity, and resilience using advanced engineering principles.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex network issues, performing root cause analysis and implementing corrective actions.
• Collaborate with planning and operations teams on network upgrades, new feature introductions, and capacity expansion projects.
• Develop and document network configurations, procedures, and technical guidelines.
• Evaluate and recommend new technologies and solutions to enhance core network capabilities.
• Ensure the security and integrity of the core network infrastructure.
