Job summary

Velox is seeking an experienced Construction Manager to lead field operations for a telecom utility construction project based in Alpharetta, GA, with potential to expand statewide oversight. Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; degree preferred in CM/CE.
• Experience leading telecom construction or related infra projects.
• Proven ability to manage field crews and subcontractors.
• Strong knowledge of aerial, underground, and fiber construction methods.
• Ability to read drawings, plans, and field specs.
• Willingness to travel regionally and work extended hours when needed.

Responsibilities

• Manage field operations across multiple telecom projects, coordinating crews, subcontractors, equipment, and materials to meet schedules and production targets.
• Set clear expectations for Field Supervisors, field technicians, and subcontractors and hold teams accountable for safety, quality, productivity, and follow-through.
• Monitor daily production, identify performance gaps and obstacles, and implement corrective actions to keep projects moving.
• Conduct regular site visits to assess field conditions, workmanship, crew performance, and compliance with construction plans and customer specifications.
• Enforce Velox safety policies and OSHA requirements, investigate incidents and near-misses, and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
• Manage staffing, scheduling, and resource allocation across active job sites and support hiring, onboarding, and performance management in partnership with HR and Operations leadership.
• Serve as the primary customer contact for assigned projects and lead or participate in customer meetings.
• Communicate project progress, emerging risks, schedule impacts, and resource needs clearly and consistently to leadership and internal teams.
• Ensure daily reports, change orders, redlines, and material tracking records are accurate and complete.
• Monitor labor, equipment, and material costs against project budgets and identify opportunities to improve efficiency and project margins.
• Review and approve timecards, subcontractor invoices, and billing promptly and partner with Finance on cost tracking and reporting.
