Job summary

Velox seeks an experienced Construction Manager to lead field operations for telecom projects in Alpharetta, GA, with potential statewide expansion. You will manage field supervisors, crews, and subcontractors to deliver safe, on-time work within budget, meeting customer specs.

The role requires expertise in aerial, underground, and fiber construction, proven leadership across multiple sites, and hands-on oversight of production, quality, cost control, and customer communication.

Qualifications

• Requires a high school diploma or GED; associate or bachelor’s degree preferred in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in telecom utility construction or related infrastructure work.
• At least 2 years of supervisory experience managing field crews and/or subcontractors.
• Strong knowledge of aerial, underground, and fiber construction methods.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, utility plans, maps, and field specs.
• Experience managing multiple concurrent projects and sites across a region.
• Strong leadership, problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
• Willingness to travel regularly within the assigned region, including overnight stays; ability to work extended hours.

Responsibilities

• Manage field operations across multiple aerial and underground telecom construction projects, coordinating crews, subcontractors, equipment, and materials to meet schedules and production targets.
• Set clear expectations for Field Supervisors, field technicians, and subcontractors and hold teams accountable for safety, quality, productivity, and follow-through.
• Monitor daily production, identify performance gaps and obstacles, and implement corrective actions to keep projects moving.
• Conduct regular site visits to assess field conditions, workmanship, crew performance, and compliance with construction plans and customer specifications.
• Enforce Velox safety policies and OSHA requirements, investigate incidents and near-misses, and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
• Manage staffing, scheduling, and resource allocation across active job sites and support hiring, onboarding, and performance management in partnership with HR and Operations leadership.
• Serve as the primary customer contact for assigned projects and lead or participate in customer meetings.
• Communicate project progress, emerging risks, schedule impacts, and resource needs clearly and consistently to leadership and internal teams.
• Ensure daily reports, change orders, redlines, and material tracking records are accurate and complete.
• Monitor labor, equipment, and material costs against project budgets and identify opportunities to improve efficiency and project margins.
• Review and approve timecards, subcontractor invoices, and billing promptly and partner with Finance on accurate cost tracking and reporting.
• Resolve field challenges and escape issues proactively to prevent avoidable delays, cost overruns, or customer concerns.
