Job summary

G2 Consulting Group is seeking a full-time engineering technician to join our Lake Zurich, IL team. The role focuses on telecom construction observation, testing, report preparation, and foundation mapping surveys, with travel to site locations as needed.

The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma (associates preferred), basic engineering knowledge, and strong communication skills. Applicants should be able to lift 50 lbs., work outdoors, and hold a valid driver’s license with insurance.

Qualifications

• Minimum High School diploma, or equivalent.
• Associates Degree in Concrete Technology or Civil Technology preferred; minimum two years telecom construction experience preferred.
• Nuclear Density and ACI certifications preferred.
• Ability to read and understand construction plans and specifications.
• Understanding of basic engineering concepts.
• Basic computer skills and knowledge of basic mathematics.
• Strong communication (verbal and written) skills.
• Strong prioritization, coordination and matrix management skills; self-directed and motivated.
• Valid driver’s license, vehicle insurance, and clean driving record.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs., stand for long periods, and work outside.
• Willingness to work overtime and weekends; some travel out of town 2–3 days.

Responsibilities

• Represent G2 in a professional manner on assigned construction sites.
• Observe construction activities to ensure conformance with project specifications.
• Submit daily field reports.
• Perform laboratory testing and field observations under supervision.
• Independently operate relevant equipment.
• Manage multiple projects within budgets and deadlines.
• Assist and perform laboratory testing under guidance of senior staff.
