Responsibilities
- Install, plan, organize, and schedule communications cabling and equipment to complete assigned work orders.
- Assign tasks, ensure high‑quality installation, and perform quality inspections.
- Monitor task completion and compliance, prevent safety issues.
- Oversee a crew of at least five technicians and apprentices.
- Use hand and power tools, read blueprints, and apply telecom systems knowledge; pursue BICSI Technician credentials.
- Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) and follow safety policies.
- Actively participate in daily safety and work briefings.
- Install, inspect, terminate, test, and troubleshoot ISP/OSP telecom systems (fiber optics, Cat 5/6/6A, etc.).
- Survey and document existing telecom infrastructure using electronic devices.
- Sketch rack, floor, and wall elevations.
- Participate in design document reviews for timely, cost‑effective, and quality outcomes.
- Install, power up, and connect fiber uplinks to telecom cabinets or racks.
- Calculate grounding conductors, conduit sizing, and raceway layouts.
- Produce four‑week look‑ahead plans for productivity, procurement, and tracking.
- Train and supervise apprentices in cable installation from telecommunication rooms to work area outlets.
- Maintain accurate as‑built drawings and update master record contracts weekly.
- Perform quality assurance checks to meet all requirements.
- Keep work area clean and participate in job‑site cleanup.
- Secure company tools and materials daily.
- Travel up to 25 % of the time, domestically or internationally.
Qualifications
- Six or more years of experience in the commercial communications industry.
- Minimum 18 years of age.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Excellent safety record; valid driver’s license and clean driving record for company vehicle use.
- Pass background check, drug test, and telecommunications knowledge test.
- Reliable transportation to and from job sites.
- Ability to read plans and specifications.
- Strong communication, time‑management, and organizational skills.
- Consistent punctuality and teamwork.
- Attire: long pants and a shirt covering shoulders by six inches.
- Provide basic tools from the tool list before first day.
Security Clearance
Applicants selected will undergo a government security investigation and must be U.S. citizenship. Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance is required.
Physical Abilities
- Lift, carry, and move objects up to 50 pounds; demonstrate strength and stamina.
- Relocate a 12‑foot stepladder without assistance.
- Work at heights up to 60 feet; climb and maintain balance on scaffolds, aerial lifts, catwalks, and ladders.
- Walk, climb, lift, squat, crawl, kneel, push, pull, and reach overhead routinely.
- Good vision (corrected if necessary) and audible English communication.
- Identify potential problems and understand specifics.
Desired Skills
- BICSI Technician, Manufacturer, or Fiber certifications.
- Experience with Microsoft Office applications.
