Job summary

The Boys’ Club of New York Inc. is seeking a Teen Tutor to support boys aged 13–21 with tutoring in core subjects such as Math, English, Science and History, plus Regents prep.

The tutor will plan lessons, select materials, and work closely with the Education Director to tailor instruction and track progress. The role is part-time and non-exempt, requiring reliable, motivated candidates with experience working with teens and a commitment to positive youth development.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field.
  • 2+ years tutoring or teaching experience.
  • Experience with ages 6-18.
  • Knowledge of NYC school standards preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and implement lesson plans to develop skills.
  • Coordinate with Education Director to assess needs.
  • Observe and track progress and attendance.
  • Reinforce positive behavior and maintain relationships.
  • Develop curriculum and training methods aligned to interests.
  • Attend department meetings and trainings.

Job Summary

Under the direction of the Education Director, the Teen Tutor will provide individual and/or small-group tutoring to boys 13-21 years old. Tutors will be strongly supported by the Education Director and are responsible for planning their own lessons and finding materials. He/she will work with core subjects, including Math, English, Science, and History, as well as Regent’s and other test preparation. We are seeking a reliable, highly motivated candidate with a strong record of working with teens and young people.?

Responsibilities

Plan, organize, and implement appropriate programs and lesson plans to enhance skill development of participants?

Work regularly with the Education Director and other relevant staff to assess the needs of individual students and adapt lessons to meet those needs

Observe and track member progress and attendance

Reinforce positive student behavior and clubhouse rules; maintain a positive relationship with all members, families and staff

Write, implement and adapt a curriculum and training methods that meets participants’ interests

Other duties as assigned

Attend required department meetings and professional development trainings

Qualifications

Minimum Bachelor’s Degree with a focus in Education or a relevant field

At least 2 years of experience as a Tutor or classroom teacher

Experience working with students from 6-18 years old

Knowledge of NYC school standards preferred

Knowledge of core subjects (Math, English, Science, and History)?

Strong communication and organizational skills

Ability to adapt to a changing environment and address the varying needs of the boys
