Job summary

The Boys’ Club of New York is seeking a part-time tutor to work with high school–level students needing special education support. You will administer diagnostics as appropriate and help develop targeted programs and clubs to enhance learning outcomes.

Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Special Education with at least 2 years of tutoring or classroom teaching experience; NYC standards knowledge is a plus. This part-time role offers a 10-hour work week at $25 per hour, located at 13301 41st Rd,

Schedule: 10 hours per week


Salary Range: $25 per hour


FLSA Status: Part-Time, Non-Exempt

Summary of Position

Tutors will work one-on-one and/or in small groups with boys, who require special education instruction and modifications, administer diagnostics on boys with academic needs when appropriate, support other tutors in their instruction techniques, and help create strong programs (such as specific clubs or preparation courses).


Major Duties and Responsibilities


  • Plan, organize, and implement appropriate programs and lesson plans that enhance skill development of participants using a variety of techniques.

  • Work regularly with the Education Director, Education Coordinator, Social Worker, and/or Psychologist to assess the needs of individual students and adapt lessons to those needs.

  • Prepare class materials, curriculum, and bulletin displays, and make copies as needed.


Education and/or Experience

Minimum Bachelor’s Degree with a focus in Special Education, and/or other highly relevant field; At least 2 years of experience as a tutor or classroom teacher; Comfort with students and subject content for high school level; Teacher certification or formal education experience strongly preferred; knowledge of NYC school standards a plus.
