Job summary

Dayton Metro Library is seeking a full-time Teen Services Librarian for our Miamisburg Branch. The role focuses on developing and delivering teen programs, outreach to schools and community groups, and providing excellent service to patrons.

The ideal candidate will have a Master’s in Library Science (preferred), strong communication skills, and the ability to work with a diverse youth population. The position offers a starting hourly rate with benefits including health, dental, and vision

Qualifications

• MLS preferred or equivalent in education and experience
• Ability to handle confrontational situations effectively
• Clear communication with teens, parents, teachers, and the community
• Knowledge of teen literature, media, and resources across formats
• Ability to plan and deliver teen programs and outreach
• Proficient with internet resources, email, spreadsheets, and word processing

Responsibilities

• Provide excellent customer service and create a welcoming Teen area
• Assist patrons with reference, information literacy, and materials selection
• Help patrons use public computers and personal devices
• Provide guidance in the absence of the manager
• Design and evaluate teen programs and activities for community needs
• Maintain liaison with schools and community organizations for outreach
• Keep Teen area displays attractive and ADA-compliant
• Recommend titles and manage collection adjustments
• Prepare reports and participate in department meetings and school outreach
