Job summary

Dayton Metro Library in West Carrollton is hiring a full-time Information Services Librarian. The role involves leading at times, promoting collections and services, and designing adult programs for the community.

Candidates should have a Master’s in Library Science where possible, strong reference skills, and a focus on excellent customer service. The library offers growth opportunities and values bilingual or multilingual abilities within the community.

Qualifications

• Master’s in Library and Information Science preferred or equivalent in education and experience.
• Ability to read, analyze and interpret reference resources, write reports, book reviews and correspondence.
• Strong customer service and communication skills; able to work with diverse community groups.
• Ability to plan and implement programs that address community needs.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate excellent internal and external customer service and create a welcoming atmosphere.
• Assist users with reference, readers’ advisory, information literacy, and use of library materials.
• Help patrons with public computers, devices, and library digital resources; assist at the Ask Me Desk.
• Provide work guidance in the absence of the Branch Library Manager.
• Design, promote and evaluate adult programs addressing community needs using library resources.
• Maintain liaisons with community orgs and agencies; provide library outreach as needed.
• Maintain attractive public service areas and create displays per safety and ADA guidelines.
• Evaluate titles for purchase or replacement and assist with deselection as needed.
• Submit reports and budget requests; may serve on library committees and assist with system programs.
• Perform special duties such as indexing, bibliographies, and opening/closing tasks.
