Job summary

Richland Library Southeast in Columbia is seeking a Full-Time Teen Center Librarian to lead teen programs and engage youth in a welcoming, service-oriented environment. The role involves developing teen-focused formats, collaborating with the Teen Services Committee, and supporting website content with the Marketing and Digital Strategy team.

The position requires a Bachelor’s degree in a related field with related experience; MLIS is preferred. Some evenings or weekends may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in related discipline; supplemented by some previous directly related experience; or an equivalent combination of education, certification, training, and/or experience.
• South Carolina driver’s license with safe driving record.

Responsibilities

• Effectively demonstrates enthusiasm, outgoing and customer-service orientation per Richland Library standards.
• Greets customers and ascertains individualized needs.
• Engages and assists diverse customers in a welcoming, professional manner.
• Builds programs and services to meet teen needs and interests.
• Coordinates with Youth Collections Librarian to market Children’s and Teen collections.
• Develops and supports teen technology and gaming programs.
• Performs professional-level Library duties including reference and technology questions.
• Supervises staff and volunteers, including daily activities and priorities.
