Job summary

The City of Carlsbad is seeking a part-time, non-benefited Program Coordinator to support the Leadership in Training & Education (L.I.T.E.) Afterschool Program and teen events at the Pine Avenue Community Center. Strong planning, supervision, and collaboration with staff and partners are essential.

Applicants should have a high school diploma or GED, plus 1 year of relevant experience; college recreation coursework preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; college courses preferred.
• At least 1 year of experience or training in a role like Senior Recreation Leader.
• Experience working with the public is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Plan, implement, and evaluate afterschool leadership activities for middle/high school participants.
• Create a developmentally supportive environment promoting leadership and teamwork.
• Supervise teens during program hours and events, ensuring safety and engagement.
• Lead workshops on leadership, life skills, academic support, and community involvement.
• Maintain communication with parents, school staff, and community partners.
