Job summary

Warren Township is seeking a Youth Specialist to join the Gurnee Teen Center team. Under the Teen Center Director, you will help plan and run programs, assist with daily operations, and support members in activities and events.

This is a year-round, part-time position averaging 20–28 hours weekly, with afternoon shifts during school year and varied summer hours. Candidates should be at least 17, bilingual Spanish a plus, and able to obtain First Aid/CPR if needed.

Qualifications

• Minimum 17 years of age.
• Bilingual Spanish-speaking a plus.
• First Aid/CPR certification, or ability to obtain within 2 months of hire.
• Some experience working with youth and/or teens preferred.
• Valid driver's license preferred.

Responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate, maintain and implement programs for the Teen Center.
• Engage members to participate in activities.
• Assist with/participate in field trips, special events, sports, games, and programs.
• Participate in required training (Mandated Reporter, safety, etc.).
• Maintain open and positive communication with members; serve as a positive role model.
• Provide homework assistance to members.
• Monitor participants, equipment, and supplies; supervise check-out and return of all equipment, supplies, and games.
• Maintain cleanliness, organization, and safety of Teen Center facility.
• Monitor behavior of members; respond to violations following established protocols.
• Recruit new Teen Center Members.
• Open and close the facility.
• Operate snack shop: maintain inventory, restock, handle cash and deposits, report discrepancies to Director.
