LOCATION: Phoenix, Arizona - Kroc Center

STATUS: PT Regular

MISSION STATEMENT:

The Salvation Army Kroc Center in Phoenix, AZ is looking to fill a Tee Ball Coach position. The qualified candidate must display integrity, enthusiasm, sound moral judgment, and provide a safe, fun, and enjoyable learning environment for all participants. Must teach beginners and intermediate learners in tee ball, communicating effectively with small and large groups with poise and enthusiasm. Will provide individual development guidelines and give feedback regarding participants' performance. Responsibilities include creating, teaching, implementing, and demonstrating planned practices and performances, ensuring class outlines are followed. Other duties may be assigned as related to the position.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be at least 16 years old
  • Working knowledge of sports such as volleyball, basketball, flag football, soccer, etc.
  • One year of sports or coaching experience
  • Ability to relate well with people and project a friendly, customer service demeanor
  • Ability to obtain CPR/First Aid certification within 30 days of employment
  • Compliance with all health and safety regulations of the Health Department and Salvation Army
  • Good physical and mental health to meet the demands of programs in gymnasium, climbing wall, and athletic fields
  • Childhood education and development-oriented philosophy
  • Experience working with children, parents, and staff in leadership, mentoring, and educational roles
  • Ability to relate joyfully and sensitively to children of all ages
  • Sensitivity to individual needs of children
  • Consistent use of positive corrective measures
  • Dependability
  • Ability to handle security and crisis situations appropriately
  • Maintain a professional attitude and approach to problem-solving

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Qualified individuals must be able to perform essential duties with or without accommodations. Reasonable modifications or adjustments to the work environment may be requested. The role involves walking, standing, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, and lifting/moving weights up to 75 pounds. Visual abilities required include close, distance, color, and depth perception. Must operate telephones and computers and access information effectively.
