Job summary

SPIE Turbomachinery Angola seeks an Offshore Mechanical Maintenance Technician to perform preventive and corrective maintenance on diesel engines, gear boxes, crane systems, pumps and valves, reading P&IDs and drawings and using basic measuring tools. Offshore rotation and safety procedures are required.

Requires 0–3 years in mechanical maintenance, Angolan nationality, and fluency in Portuguese with basic English. Basic MS Word/Excel skills and CBM concepts are expected.

Qualifications

  • 0–3 years in mechanical or industrial equipment maintenance.
  • Oil & gas experience is a plus.
  • Angolan national; offshore safety rules awareness.
  • Fluent in Portuguese; basic English.

Responsibilities

Job description

  • Complies with and applies theCOMPANY’s HSE regulations particularly Permit to Work procedures, approved operating procedures, and standard industry practice during maintenance activities under supervision.
  • Reports unsafe acts, conditions, and near misses to the supervisor.
  • Have a basicunderstandingof offshore facilities and process systems.
  • Demonstrates awareness of hydrocarbon behavior and associated risks (explosion, asphyxia…).
Computer Skills:
  • Able to produce basic report using Microsoft Word
  • Able to perform simple calculations and data entry using Microsoft Excel.
  • Able to use email and internet tools for work purposes.
Physics:
  • Understands and applies basic physical laws and units (forces, mass, energy, Newton’s laws).
  • Has basic knowledge of materials and steels, including usage, mechanical resistance, corrosion mechanisms, and prevention methods.
  • Able to read and use basic engineering drawings (P&IDs, PFDs, isometrics).
  • Able to interpret vendor documentation, nameplates, datasheets, tolerances, and adjustment figures.
  • Able to produce clear and accurate hand sketches and drawings to scale.
Equipment:
  • Understands the working principles of crane‑related mechanical and hydraulic equipment, including:
    • Filters
    • Gear boxes
    • Diesel engines
    • Common valve types (butterfly, gate, ball, PSV)
    • Crane hydraulic systems (crane hydraulic circuits, HPU, hydraulic pumps).
  • Fully familiar with lubrication requirements and different types of lubricants.
  • Familiarized with preventive maintenance tasks and their objectives.
  • Aware of Condition‑Based Maintenance (CBM) techniques such as vibration monitoring and oil analysis, including their purpose and limitations.
Maintenance:
  • Understands preventive and corrective maintenance concepts and basic maintenance planning principles.
  • Has basic knowledge of CMMS usage (issue notifications, read and complete work orders).
  • Able to identify and correctly use mechanical measuring tools.
  • Able to identify spare parts and follow appropriate procedures or work instructions.
Perfil
  • Angolan national.
  • Technical secondary education or vocational training in Mechanical Maintenance or related discipline.
  • 0 to 3 years of experience in mechanical maintenance or industrial equipment maintenance; oil & gas experience is an advantage.
  • Basic knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulic systems, gearboxes, and lubrication principles.
  • Ability to use basic mechanical tools and follow maintenance procedures under supervision.
  • Strong ability to read drawings and technical documentation.
  • Strong awareness of HSE rules and willingness to comply with offshore safety requirements.
  • Fluent in Portuguese; basic English knowledge required.
  • Basic computer skills (Word, Excel, email).
  • Medically fit and willing to work offshore under rotational schedules.
  • Demonstrates motivation, discipline, and willingness to learn.
