Job description

As part of the CEOs of Indiana Corporate Partnership, TechPoint is the nonprofit, industry-led growth initiative driving Indiana's tech ecosystem. TechPoint functions as the strategic hub that connects public, private, academic and philanthropic partners focused on technology. Today TechPoint is striving to make Indiana a tech leader through the intersection of the tech sector with advanced industries.

Based in Indianapolis at 16 Tech, TechPoint's mission is to drive Indiana's tech ecosystem through talent, innovation and community — strengthening the tech talent pipeline, accelerating startup and enterprise growth, enhancing resource connectivity, and elevating the state's tech community through collaboration and storytelling.

ROLE OVERVIEW

TechPoint is looking for a full-time Manager of Talent Programs to own the student experience for our nationally recognized suite of talent programs, including Xtern Summer and Xtern Challenge.

This is an opportunity to own program delivery and outcomes end-to-end in a small organization. Our programs run on a set of values our students carry with them: gratitude, inclusion, grit, investment, and growth. The right individual for this role models those values, is energized by working directly with college students, and is motivated by seeing a program they run shape the early careers of the people in it.

This person will report to the Senior Director of Talent Program Operations and will work in close partnership with the Director of Workforce Partnerships, who owns employer and regional partner relationships.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Build an Engaged Talent Community
  • Recruit students across Indiana campuses through career fairs, campus visits, and relationships with faculty and career services staff, building the connections that bring students into TechPoint's opportunities.
  • Sustain year-round engagement with students between program cycles, so TechPoint is a name students know and trust, and they act when we surface an opportunity.
  • Partner with the Marketing team on the notification and growth of TechPoint's front door, ensuring the right opportunities reach the right students.
  • Maintain relationships with program alumni so they stay connected to the community and advocate for TechPoint with the next cohort.
  • Serve as a visible, trusted point of contact for students navigating early tech careers in Indiana, connecting them to opportunities beyond TechPoint's own programs where that serves them better.
Xtern Summer Recruitment & Program Delivery
  • Manage the student application and screening process and coordinate candidates for interviews with employers.
  • Build and sustain the student community across Discord and in-person touchpoints.
  • Plan and execute the full Xtern summer program calendar, which includes three weekends of tech-focused events.
  • Manage student housing logistics in partnership with our housing provider, including move-in, issue escalation, and resident questions.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for students throughout the program, from admissions, onboarding, and summer programming.
  • Design experiences that build cohort connection across students in and out of program housing.
  • Conduct program evaluation, including student surveys and participation analysis, and carry what you learn into the next year.
Student Program Experience (Xtern Challenge & Pilot Programs)
  • Manage student applications for Xtern Challenge, form teams, and run the student side of the event: registration, communications, logistics, and student support throughout the challenge.
  • Own the student-facing delivery of pilot programs as they develop, including onboarding, communications, and day-to-day support.
  • Partner with the Director of Workforce Partnerships, who owns employer relationships, to ensure the right students are engaged in each program.
Apprenticeship Intake & Pathway Routing
  • Hold introductory conversations with prospective apprentices, understand their goals, vet their eligibility for the programs, and route them to appropriate programs
  • Support adult apprenticeship partner organizations to help fill their apprenticeship openings.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required
  • At least 2-3 years of experience running programs, events, or student-facing experiences where you owned the outcome.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple concurrent workstreams on a deadline.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Willingness to work some evenings and weekends during the summer program and to travel across Indiana during recruitment season.
  • Proficient in office productivity tools (email, calendar, word processing, spreadsheet, presentation software).
Preferred
  • Familiarity with Indiana's higher education landscape or tech ecosystem.
  • Experience with internship, apprenticeship, or other work-based learning programs.
  • Familiarity with Customer Relationship Management platforms (TechPoint uses Salesforce).
  • Experience using a project management tool to coordinate program work (TechPoint uses Asana).
  • Experience with student engagement platforms, texting tools, or community management.
COMPETENCIES
  • Relationship Building – Establish and maintain constructive working relationships with internal and external partners. Truly enjoy people, find value in investing in others' growth, and are able to connect with people from varying backgrounds and experiences.
  • Program Planning – Creatively able to create a schedule of events for our programs and execute. Anticipate what a program needs before it needs it, and build the plan that gets there.
  • Organization – Able to manage time effectively, prioritize tasks, set goals, and develop systems for achieving those goals.
  • Detail Oriented – Insistent on high-quality, attention to detail, and on-time execution.
  • Communication – Possess excellent written and verbal skills; able to get your point across, listen to others, and keep others up to date with changing information.
  • Adaptability – Ability to adapt to new, different, or changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Collaboration – Ability to effectively work with others to achieve a common goal
