POSITION: Technology Support Specialist

Reports To: Supervisor of Academic Technology or Supervisor of Administrative Technology

Takes Direction From: Coordinator of Communications Media, Director of Technology, and Director of School & Community Engagement

Schedule/Calendar: 7.5 hrs./day 37.5 hrs/week 261 days/year

Summary: The Technology Support Specialist for Technology & A/V provides technology and A/V skill training, training material development and support of district-wide technology and audio-visual implementations for students, administrators and staff.

Essential Functions

  • Provide technology and A/V skill training for staff on all technology devices in the district.
  • Install, configure, troubleshoot, upgrade, maintain and repair audio/visual equipment at all district locations (ex: lamp replacement, firmware upgrades, I/O plate, orientation, and diagnostics).
  • Ensure all systems are maintained and comply with all current safety and building regulations (ex: cable path, electrical, preventative maintenance filters).
  • Work with Desktop & Device Specialist for installations of devices and/or software in the building.
  • Collaborate with eLearning coach to create training materials in support of technology integration best practices.
  • Identify, diagnose, and resolve hardware, software, and operating system problems and questions that occur during daily use.
  • Log and follow up on all open or pending service requests for the buildings to ensure resolution.
  • Provide support for staff members in the use of technology, a/v tools and website design and maintenance as identified by the district (including Interactive Projectors and Whiteboards, Microsoft products, Google portal, cloud storage tools).
  • Demonstrate hardware and operating system functionality to staff.
  • Communicate with building administrators regarding Technology and A/V needs, evaluate requests, and develop recommendations based on best practice.
  • Support media, sound and lighting needs for events in NPSD including, but not limited to, community use of facilities, school use of auditoriums, multipurpose rooms and cafeterias.
  • Additional duties as assigned by Supervisor of Academic Technology, Supervisor of Administrative Technology or Coordinator of Communications Media

Education And/or Certification Required

High School Diploma or GED

Experience Needed

  • 3-5 years’ Technology and A/V training and troubleshooting experience, preferably in an educational setting
  • Customer service experience

Requisite Skills

  • Experience in technology training; familiarity with basic technology, A/V and networking concepts
  • Troubleshooting skills
  • Organizational and time management skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Basic skills in productivity and cloud storage tools.
  • Ability to support a culture of equity, diversity, and inclusion

Sedentary: involves sitting most of the time. Incumbent should be able to exert up to 10 lbs of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or move objects.

Light work: If the use of arm and/or leg control requires exertion of forces greater than that for sedentary work and the individual sits most of the time, the job is rated for light work. The incumbent should be able to exert up to 20 lbs of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 lbs of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.

Medium work: The incumbent should be able to exert up to 50 lbs of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 lbs of force frequently, and/or up to 10 lbs of force constantly to move objects.

Heavy work: The incumbent should be able to exert up to 100 lbs of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 lbs of force frequently, and/or up to 20 lbs of force constantly to move objects.

Very heavy work: The incumbent should be able to exert in excess of 100 lbs of force occasionally, and in excess of 50 lbs of force frequently, and in excess of 20 lbs of force constantly to move objects.
