Job summary

Union Pacific Railroad is offering a Summer Internship in the Technology Department in Omaha, Nebraska. You will explore Application Development, Cybersecurity, or Infrastructure/Platform teams, gaining hands-on experience and working with modern technologies to deliver secure, scalable enterprise solutions.

The role requires in-person presence in Omaha during mid-May through early August, with relocation housing stipends for qualified students living far from Omaha.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, MIS, or a related field.
• Completed, or will have completed by the internship start date, coursework equivalent to at least one year toward an undergraduate degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, MIS, or a related field.
• Availability to work full-time in Omaha, Nebraska, during the summer internship program.
• Basic organization and prioritization skills.
• Basic time and project management skills.
• Proficient verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Learn and perform the core processes and work tasks required to build and support secure and highly available enterprise software applications and platforms.
• Participate in design sessions, sprint planning and code reviews.
• Track and maintain status of projects using tools such as JIRA.
• Build and strengthen a network of professional contacts within departments and across the company.
• Perform other duties as assigned
