Job summary

Jackson County is seeking a Technology Specialist for the Corrections department in Kansas City, MO to support and maintain security and surveillance systems.

You will respond to requests, train staff on software, and coordinate with IT and vendors. A degree or five years of experience is required; on-call duties are part of the role.

Qualifications

• Associate’s Degree in IT, CS, or related field.
• Five years’ experience.
• Valid Driver License and reliable transportation.
• Must be on call outside of regular hours for emergency support.
• Background and drug screening required.

Responsibilities

• Responds to user requests for support for touch screen systems, radios, CCTV/video surveillance systems, metal detectors, electronic access control, and related hardware/software.
• Reviews incoming support requests and coordinates with Jackson County IT, outside vendors or service providers.
• Provides maintenance, repair, replacement or parts for cameras, intercoms, and communication devices.
• Evaluates technology systems and operations monthly and submits findings and recommendations.
• Trains users in Detention Center software, inmate tracking hardware/software, and CCTV/video surveillance systems.

Education

Associate’s Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field
