Job summary

Jackson County Detention Center is seeking a Detention Officer to provide security for inmates and ensure adherence to policy. The role involves processing new inmates, conducting contraband searches, and escorting inmates through intake procedures.

Associates may rotate posts and shifts as needed, with overtime possible during staffing shortages. Applicants must have a High School Diploma or equivalent, be at least 18, pass the Jail Academy Exam, and hold/maintain First Aid, CPR and AED

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• No minimum experience required beyond admission to Jail Academy.
• Jail Academy Exam must be passed.
• Certified in first aid, CPR and AED.

Responsibilities

• Provide security for inmates at the Jackson County Detention Center.
• Follow written procedures and guidelines from departmental policy.
• Process new inmates and conduct routine searches for contraband.
• Escort inmates through intake and related procedures.
• Work various posts, areas, and shifts as needed.
• Attend to health concerns and document observations.
