Target Hiring Range: $90,000-$100,000 Target Hiring Range: $90,000-$100,000 Department: Support Operations Posting Date Range: 8/7/2026 - Until Filled Pay Grade Range: $86979-$152214 Work Hours: 9:00 am - 6:00 pm FLSA Status: Exempt Work Location Status: Hybrid Hybrid Schedule: Minimum of three days a week on site. All remote or hybrid work arrangements must be performed from within the continental United States, subject to Sergeant at Arms approval. The Senate Sergeant at Arms does not pay for relocation expenses.

JOB OVERVIEW

The Sergeant at Arms, Printing Graphics and Direct Mail (PGDM) department is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Technology Solutions Specialist to join our team. This role will primarily focus on collaborating with the Technical Manager to provide technical support and assistance for internal applications. The successful candidate will also play a key role in the implementation and deployment of new technology solutions, ensuring seamless integration with existing systems. In addition, they will identify opportunities for process improvement, streamlining, and automation, and work toward their implementation. Troubleshooting and resolving technical issues related to applications and systems, as well as conducting regular system maintenance and updates to ensure optimal performance and security, will also be crucial responsibilities of this role. KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES/ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES
  • Deploys and upgrades software solutions and operating systems, implementing system and server modifications to meet the needs of the organization.
  • Conducts compatibility evaluations of new software versions for applications supported by other CIO groups to ensure no adverse impact to the operating system or other applications.
  • Leads market research, evaluation, design, and implementation of technology solutions to meet business requirements.
  • Monitors the impact of technological developments, identifies emerging technologies, and scopes potential Senate utility.
  • Leads cross-organizational teams in communication, documentation, design, deployment, governance, and ongoing support of complex IT systems.
  • Develops and maintains technical support documentation and standard operating procedures, and participates in Change Management.
  • Serves as the highest-level internal escalation point for issues affecting supported solutions.
  • As necessary, works with external vendors to solve problems that cannot be resolved internally.
  • Other duties as assigned.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS
REQUIRED EDUCATION

High School Diploma/GED.

REQUIRED WORK EXPERIENCE
  • 3-5 years of related experience.
REQUIRED SPECIAL SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Have a full working knowledge and experience with multiple versions of Windows OS servers and/or equivalent Windows Server administration.
  • Provide all levels of OS support for all servers and participate in the following activities at the direction of the SAA and PGDM to achieve the desired outcomes.
  • Manage the applications that are on the servers and maintain server certificates.
  • Transition business applications from lower environments to production.
  • Support activities involve the use of virtualization and management software products that provide management, administration, provisioning, and enable automation of Windows OS.
  • Use of the supporting tools for this implementation is required for automated system monitoring as each application is brought on board in Dev, Test, and then transitioned to the Production environment.
  • Ability to design, develop, and document technical solutions, architecture diagrams, standard operating procedures, and change requests.
  • Experience deploying, upgrading, and maintaining business systems and applications.
  • Experience developing and maintaining SQL and PowerShell scripts and processes.
  • Operational knowledge of creating, renewing, and maintaining SSL/TLS certificates.
  • Operational experience with database structures and operations (MS-SQL).
  • Operational experience with MS Server administration, including service accounts, security groups, deployments, routing application and server updates, FTP, SFTP (vShell), and related tasks.
  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology or computer science preferred.
WORKING CONDITIONS
  • Since this position requires onsite presence in support of the U.S. Senate when in session, the employee must be available and prepared to work during a lapse in appropriations, in inclement weather, on holidays, and during late-night, overnight, and weekend sessions. In the context of government furloughs, this position is considered excepted.
  • This position directly supports essential services of the U.S. Senate. As such, the employee must be available and prepared to work during a lapse in appropriations, in inclement weather, on holidays, weekends, and during late nights to ensure essential services to the Senate continue without interruption. In the context of government furloughs, this position is considered excepted.
  • The U.S. Senate network cannot be taken offline for maintenance during the workday or while the Senate is in session. As such, maintenance windows may occur only at night, on weekends, and occasionally on holidays. Employees who perform systems upgrades, maintenance, wiring, backups, or support alternate data centers will have schedules that include working nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Sedentary with extended periods of sitting and standing.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

To be employed by a Senate employing office in a paid position in the continental United States an individual must:

  • Be a U.S. citizen;
  • Be lawfully admitted for permanent residence and seeking citizenship as outlined in 8 U.S.C.

  • Be (i) admitted as a refugee under 8 U.S.C.
  • 1157 or granted asylum under 8 U.S.C.
  • 1158 and (ii) have filed a declaration of intention to become a lawful permanent resident and then a citizen when eligible; or
  • Owe allegiance to the U.S. (i.e., qualify as a non-citizen U.S. national under federal law).
