Technology – Senior Data Engineer

Location: Lake Buena Vista, Florida (Onsite)

Role Overview

We are seeking a Senior Data Engineer to join a team responsible for development and sustainment projects, prototyping, and research initiatives. In this role, you will work with business, science, and technology teams to understand requirements and design data pipelines. You will design, develop, and implement systems for advanced analytic data solutions, making data usable for science models, visualizations, and applications.

Key Responsibilities

• Participate in data requirements gathering, source-to-target mapping, and data validation scripting.
• Design, develop, enhance, and implement systems for advanced analytic data solutions.
• Develop and monitor ETL/ELT data pipelines.
• Produce datasets as input for science models and visualizations.
• Leverage and support the integration of GenAI tools and techniques into data engineering processes.
• Participate in technical reviews to ensure quality deliverables.
• Communicate data engineering progress to project leadership.

Required Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Software Engineering, or a related field.

Experience: 5+ years of technology experience.

Technical Skills

• Experience with ELT/ETL data pipeline development and maintenance.
• Expertise using Python and SQL.
• Understanding of database and data warehouse design, with proficiency in platforms such as PostgreSQL or Snowflake.
• Understanding of GenAI concepts and tools (e.g., LLMs, embeddings, prompt engineering).
• Understanding of vector databases or Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) architectures.
• Experience with GenAI APIs or frameworks (e.g., OpenAI, LangChain, AWS Bedrock).
• Experience with developing in a multi-environment setting (Dev, QA, Prod) and using source control products like GitLab or GitHub for code deployment.
• Knowledge of job orchestration software like Apache Airflow.
• Ability to formulate solutions and communicate technical concepts to non-technical team members.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a multi-team environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with analytic systems.
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code, Docker, containerization, and Kubernetes or a similar framework.
• Experience working with large datasets and big data technologies such as Snowflake or Databricks.
• Proficiency with API development.
• Knowledge of cloud architecture and product offerings, preferably AWS.
