Job description

Anza MI is a fintech startup using technology and analytics to drive growth & innovation within the US mortgage market.

We are an innovative mortgage insurance provider serving mortgage banks, large financial institutions, and mortgage servicers across the nation. We partner with our clients to mitigate risk and enable homeownership through innovative insurance solutions and technology-driven service delivery. As a FinTech-forward organization, we are transforming the mortgage insurance experience through modern integrations, data-driven decisioning, and seamless B2B connectivity with the broader mortgage ecosystem.

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Technology Product Manager to serve as the strategic and operational bridge between our business units and technology teams. This role drives the vision, development, and delivery of technology products that support the full mortgage lifecycle—from loan origination and underwriting through servicing and claims—within a regulated mortgage insurance environment.

What you’ll do
1. Product Strategy & Roadmap

Define and maintain a multi-horizon technology product roadmap aligned with company strategy, customer needs, and mortgage industry trends. Conduct competitive analysis and market research within the mortgage insurance and broader mortgage technology landscape (LOSs, PPEs, POSs, Servicing Systems and GSE platforms). Identify opportunities to leverage emerging technologies—including AI/ML, automation, and API-first architectures—to enhance our products and B2B integrations. Contribute to annual and quarterly planning by articulating technology investment priorities with supporting business cases.

2. Mortgage & FinTech Domain Leadership

Serve as the internal subject matter expert on mortgage origination and servicing workflows, including loan application, underwriting, MI commitment, post-close, servicing and default/claims processes. Ensure product features and integrations align with MISMO data standards (XML/JSON Reference Model v3.4/3.5+), iLAD/ULDD, and GSE requirements from Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. Stay current with regulatory and compliance requirements affecting mortgage insurance, including CFPB guidelines, RESPA, GSE guidelines, and UMDP updates. Translate mortgage industry terminology and workflows for technology teams; translate technical capabilities for business and client-facing stakeholders.

3. Business-IT Interface & Requirements Management

Act as the primary liaison between business units (Underwriting, Risk, Sales, Operations, Customer Service, Compliance) and IT/engineering teams. Lead requirements-gathering sessions, workshops, and stakeholder interviews to elicit clear, well-scoped product requirements. Author epics, user stories, and acceptance criteria that meet both business objectives and technical feasibility constraints. Manage expectations and maintain alignment between business goals, technical capabilities, and delivery timelines.

4. B2B Integration & Partner Connectivity Oversight

Champion the product vision for B2B connectivity—including EDI (ANSI X12), API (REST/JSON/XML), AS2, and SFTP-based integrations with lender partners, servicers, and GSEs. Collaborate with B2B technical analysts and integration engineers to define data mapping requirements, onboarding workflows, and partner-facing technical specifications. Understand and contribute to the requirements for data transmission protocols and standards to ensure compliant partner integrations. Use knowledge of B2B transaction monitoring, error handling, and incident management to prioritize platform reliability improvements and partner escalations. Participate in UAT and go-live activities for new partner integrations and system enhancements, providing product oversight to ensure quality outcomes.

5. Prioritization & Portfolio Management

Lead the evaluation and prioritization of enhancement requests, defects, and strategic initiatives using data-driven frameworks. Manage and groom the product backlog to ensure highest-value work is clearly defined and sequenced for development teams. Balance competing priorities across multiple business units, client segments, and regulatory requirements. Coordinate with enterprise architecture, IT leadership, and program management on resource allocation and portfolio planning.

6. Financial Analysis & Business Case Development

Develop ROI analyses and cost-benefit models for proposed technology investments, incorporating development costs, operational impact, and measurable business value. Track and report on realized benefits against projected outcomes post-launch. Partner with Finance to align product investment decisions with budget cycles and business performance targets.

7. Agile Delivery & Product Execution

Work within Agile/Scrum delivery frameworks—actively participating in sprint planning, backlog refinement, sprint reviews, and retrospectives. Define clear acceptance criteria and lead or coordinate user acceptance testing (UAT) for product releases. Drive go-to-market planning for new features, including training, documentation, change management, and client communications. Monitor product performance post-launch via KPIs and metrics; iterate rapidly based on data and stakeholder feedback.

8. Stakeholder Engagement & Communication

Build and maintain strong relationships with internal business leaders, IT teams, compliance, and external partners including mortgage lenders, servicers, and technology vendors. Present product roadmaps, progress updates, and strategic recommendations to senior leadership and executive stakeholders. Synthesize client feedback from mortgage banks, large bank partners, and servicers into actionable product improvements.

Qualifications
Education & Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Computer Science, Information Systems, Finance, or related field; MBA or relevant Master’s degree strongly preferred. 5+ years of product management experience, with preference for FinTech, mortgage technology, or B2B financial services platforms. 3+ years of direct experience in the mortgage, banking, or insurance industry—with hands‑on knowledge of origination and/or servicing operations. Demonstrated experience managing complex, enterprise‑grade technology products in a regulated environment.

Technical Knowledge

Strong command of software development lifecycle (SDLC) and Agile/Scrum methodologies. Functional understanding of B2B data integration concepts: EDI standards (ANSI X12, EDIFACT), API integrations (REST/JSON/XML), secure file transfer protocols (AS2, SFTP, HTTPS). Familiarity with MISMO data standards and their application in mortgage system integrations. Knowledge of enterprise technology systems including LOS platforms, policy administration systems, underwriting platforms, CRM, and data analytics tools. Understanding of cloud architecture, SaaS delivery models, and API‑first product design. Proficiency with data analysis tools and basic SQL for querying and validating product metrics and data flows.

Industry & Domain Knowledge

Deep working knowledge of the end‑to‑end mortgage lifecycle: origination (application, processing, underwriting, closing) and servicing (payment processing, escrow, default management, claims). Understanding of mortgage insurance products, underwriting guidelines, and risk assessment frameworks. Familiarity with GSE requirements (Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac), CFPB regulations, RESPA, and other applicable compliance frameworks. Understanding of B2B customer needs within the mortgage banking ecosystem—including lender systems, servicer platforms, and third‑party technology integrations.

Preferred Certifications

Product management certification (CSPO, CPM, SAFe POPM, or equivalent). MISMO Certified Mortgage Solutions Professional (CMSP) or equivalent industry certification.
