Job description

At Dexter, we manufacture and distribute axles, accessories, and towing components primarily serving the commercial trailer, RV, marine, agriculture, and manufactured housing markets. We’re building products and systems that are rooted in a culture of safety, collaboration, and innovation.

Headquartered in Elkhart, Indiana, Dexter has manufacturing and distribution locations throughout the U.S. and Canada. Employing state-of-the-art robotics, precision welding equipment, and automated machining processes, Dexter has achieved over 65 years of success through a commitment to the principles of superior quality, continuous improvement, and unparalleled customer service.

At Dexter, technology supports a complex manufacturing and distribution organization and helps our teams work more safely, efficiently, and effectively. We are seeking a Technology Portfolio & Delivery Manager to create transparency across the technology portfolio and personally lead selected high-priority initiatives from planning through implementation.

This role sits at the intersection of portfolio governance and hands-on project delivery. You will build real plans, maintain a clear view of risks and dependencies, coordinate stakeholders, facilitate practical trade-off discussions, and help drive priority work to the finish line. Success comes through project leadership, influence, disciplined follow-through, and trusted partnership across the business and IT.

What You’ll Do
Technology Portfolio Governance & Visibility
  • Maintain a decision-ready portfolio view. Track objectives, milestones, status, dependencies, risks, resource constraints, and required decisions across technology programs, projects, and initiatives.
  • Build practical intake and governance. Establish and continuously improve routines so new demand is consistently documented, assessed, sequenced, and routed for leadership review.
  • Facilitate planning and prioritization. Coordinate roadmap discussions, provide objective analysis and practical recommendations, and ensure decisions remain with the appropriate leaders.
  • Create clear executive reporting. Prepare concise dashboards, portfolio reviews, steering committee materials, status summaries, decision logs, and action tracking.
  • Support investment decisions. Organize and validate information for business cases, capacity planning, benefits tracking, and value-focused portfolio discussions.
  • Surface cross-portfolio risk early. Identify resource conflicts, dependencies, and systemic delivery risks; coordinate resolution and escalation when leadership action is required.
Priority Project Delivery
  • Lead selected priority initiatives end to end. Manage work from initiation through implementation, stabilization, and transition to operations.
  • Turn direction into executable plans. Define scope, outcomes, milestones, workstreams, roles, decision rights, governance, and success measures.
  • Use disciplined delivery controls. Build and maintain schedules, RAID logs, dependency maps, communication plans, status reports, change controls, readiness checklists, and cutover plans.
  • Coordinate cross-functional contributors. Align business, technical, vendor, and functional teams; clarify ownership, maintain momentum, and drive timely follow-through.
  • Manage risk and remove blockers. Monitor scope, schedule, quality, risk, and readiness; resolve issues at the working level and elevate with clear options and recommendations.
  • Tailor the delivery approach. Apply Agile, waterfall, or hybrid practices based on the initiative while maintaining appropriate governance and documentation.
  • Drive implementation readiness. Lead stakeholder communication, cutover preparation, handoff, post-launch stabilization, and lessons-learned activities.
Stakeholder Alignment & Continuous Improvement
  • Connect business priorities with technology delivery. Build trusted relationships across IT, business functions, Finance, Operations, and other stakeholders.
  • Facilitate difficult trade-off conversations. Help stakeholders reach workable agreements when priorities, resources, or viewpoints differ.
  • Improve the operating system for delivery. Strengthen standards, templates, tools, data quality, reporting, and governance practices to increase consistency and efficiency.
  • Coach through project leadership. Mentor project leads and team members in planning, risk management, governance, and delivery discipline.
  • Promote accountability and outcomes. Encourage proactive communication, continuous improvement, and a focus on measurable business results.
Recommended Education & Experience

The qualifications below reflect the scope of this role and current market expectations for comparable technology portfolio and delivery positions.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field; an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience will be considered.
  • 6+ years of progressive experience in technology project management, program management, portfolio management, PMO, business transformation, or delivery management.
  • 3+ years of experience leading complex, cross-functional technology initiatives or coordinating a portfolio of interdependent projects in a matrixed environment.
  • Demonstrated experience creating and managing project plans, schedules, RAID logs, dependencies, executive status reporting, governance forums, and implementation or cutover readiness.
  • Experience with portfolio intake, prioritization support, roadmap planning, business cases, resource or capacity planning, and benefits or outcome tracking.
  • Working knowledge of Agile, waterfall, and hybrid delivery methods, as well as common technology delivery life-cycle and change-control practices.
  • Strong analytical, facilitation, written communication, presentation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proven ability to influence without formal authority, navigate ambiguity, reconcile competing priorities, and maintain accountability across diverse stakeholders.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and project, portfolio, or reporting tools.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Business, Information Systems, Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • PMP or comparable project management certification; PgMP, PfMP, Agile/SAFe, Scrum, or change-management certification is a plus.
  • Experience in a manufacturing, distribution, supply chain, or multi-site operating environment.
  • Experience supporting enterprise transformation, ERP, CRM, data and analytics, cloud, automation, or other cross-functional technology programs.
  • Experience establishing or significantly improving portfolio intake, governance, and reporting practices.
  • Familiarity with platforms such as ServiceNow SPM, Planview, Smartsheet, Jira, Microsoft Project, Power BI, or comparable tools.
What You Bring
  • Execution discipline. You turn broad priorities into clear plans and follow through until the work is complete.
  • Portfolio perspective. You see patterns, trade-offs, dependencies, and resource constraints across multiple initiatives.
  • Practical judgment. You balance process with pace and tailor governance to the work.
  • Influence and facilitation. You bring people together, surface issues early, and help teams reach decisions.
  • Business and technology fluency. You translate between business needs and technical delivery teams.
  • Data-driven communication. You turn complex information into concise, decision-ready insights.

Continuous improvement mindset. You challenge inefficient practices and build sustainable, scalable ways of working.
