Job description

Team Rubicon (TR) is seeking a Technology Operations Specialist II to join TR's Technology team! The Technology Operations Specialist II will apply creative problem-solving and technical expertise to tackle the unique challenges faced by departments across the organization . This position will design and deliver robust, resilient, and lasting solutions that drive greater impact and efficiency. This will require critical thinking, curiosity, strong technical ability , and a collaborative spirit. The Technology Operations Specialist II will be responsible for partnering with program staff and end-users to understand pain points and departmental objectives , then leveraging a suite of tools to implement scalable, efficient systems that reduce manual work and maximize organizational effectiveness.

Every day will be a challenge, but every month brings new opportunities for an organization that is quickly becoming a household name in disaster response. This position reports to TR’s Deputy Director, Technologyand is based remote within Southern California (SoCal).

Duties:

  • Diagnose and resolve complex technical issues that escalate beyond Tier 1 and 2 support.
  • Analyze recurring issues and incidents to identify root causes and partner with developers on implementing long-term fixes.
  • Design, configure, and implement workflows, systems, and tools to meet programmatic, donor, and operational needs, while optimizing and automating processes across tech and the broader organization.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional staff and end-users to understand objectives, define scope, and design effective technical solutions that align with organizational goals.
  • Analyze recurring problems to identify root causes and propose long-term fixes.
  • Lead change management efforts to ensure seamless rollout and user adoption of new technologies, workflows, and systems.
  • Troubleshoot technical issues and manage bug fixes and enhancements.
  • Track project progress, identify risks, and implement mitigation strategies.
  • Ensure solutions are secure, scalable, and aligned with data privacy best practices.

Education and Background:

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology , Computer Science, Engineering , or equivalent professional experience
  • 3+ years in a technical implementation, support, or systems engineering role - preferably in a nonprofit, NGO, or social impact context
  • Demonstrated ability with Service Desk ticketing platforms such as ( Jira Service Management, Zendesk, Freshdesk, etc.)
  • Experience working with CRM, ERP, or data collection tools ( Dynamics 365, Salesforce, Raiser’s Edge , etc.)
  • Comfort with Project Management tools such as Jira, Microsoft Planner, or Asana
  • Familiarity with automation tools ( e.g. Power Automate, Zapier ) is a plus
  • Passion for social good, a collaborative mindset, and a willingness to grow

Special Requirements:

  • This is full-time ; REMOTE position and can be based within Southern California and provides a flexible & non-traditional work schedule (relocation expenses not provided)
  • Expect to travel at least four times a year (once a quarter) for Department Offsites, as well as other opportunities to engage with staff and volunteers in the field
  • As with any Technology focused role, you will sometimes be required to work nights or weekends to resolve critical issues or roll out new features

  • $51,262.40 - $87,379.20 per year
