Job summary

The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley seeks a Technology Licensing Associate to oversee intake, review and licensing of university intellectual property. You will work closely with faculty, patent attorneys, and industry partners to develop, license, and commercialize new technologies from UTRGV.

The role includes conducting prior art and market studies, creating promotional materials, and identifying commercialization partners globally.

Qualifications

  • Two years of experience in intellectual property management and commercialization, including inventor disclosures, and managing inventor patent attorney relationships and experience in managing and negotiating licenses in the science, engineering, biomedical, and/or health-related IP.
  • One year of the required experience with a Master's degree in engineering, life sciences, or other related field from an accredited University.

Responsibilities

  • Conducts prior art searches, patentability and marketability studies, evaluates new technologies.
  • Negotiates license agreements and fosters existing licensee relationships; monitors compliance.
  • Drafts agreements and contracts; edits web pages using Cascade and similar tools.
  • Manages relationships with researchers, licensees, and early-stage investors.
