Job summary

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, physical sciences or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 4 years of relevant experience.
  • Preliminary knowledge proficiency in licensing and intellectual property principles.
  • Examples include preliminary licensing terms, targeted fundamentals of intellectual property, basic understanding of marketing methods, and intermediate negotiation knowledge.
  • Active participant in deal teams with and without being a deal lead.
  • Able to provide recommendations and justifications on filing decisions with modest supervision. Independently manages a small to mid-sized IP portfolio.

Responsibilities

  • Cultivate and sustain relationships with university faculty and staff creators and developers of innovations in the College of Engineering.
  • Identify university-owned innovations with commercial applications and evaluate business cases.
  • Prepare non-confidential summaries for marketing purposes and support marketing strategy development.
  • Participate in negotiation of license and option agreements with partners.
