Job summary

Daystar Academy seeks a Technology Coordinator to lead the development, implementation, operation, monitoring, and evaluation of the school’s technology program. The role installs, maintains, and upgrades hardware, software, networks, and cloud systems, while training staff for effective use of technology in instruction and administration.

Collaborating with administration, teachers, and office staff, the coordinator will ensure alignment with instructional technology plans and state guidelines,

Job Description: Technology Coordinator

Title: Technology Coordinator

Reports to: Head of School

Required: Knowledge of the following: Computer hardware, software and peripherals; Principles, practices, hardware, and software related to setting up and maintaining a local area network; Techniques for explaining technical concepts and procedures to non-technical users; Procedures for installing, configuring, upgrading, troubleshooting and repairing applicable software, hardware and peripherals.

Work Days/Hours: to be determined by supervisor

Summer Deliverables: Assigned by your supervisor by June 1st.

Job Summary

The Technology Coordinator is primarily concerned with the development, implementation, operation, monitoring and evaluation of the technology program for the school. This person provides leadership identifying hardware and software purchases, ensuring that they are consistent with the school’s instructional technology plan and state technology guidelines. He/She installs, maintains, troubleshoots and upgrades computer hardware, software, networks, peripheral equipment, and cloud systems. This person provides staff training on technology competencies needed for effective implementation of technology into the educational program and for administrative uses. He/She works collaboratively with the Administration team, teachers, and office staff to make effective use of technology and include technology applications as an integral part of the total program.

All Staff Responsibilities
  • Provide a safe school environment, indoors and out, per directives regarding building operations (keys, fobs, alarm codes), the Daystar Distinctives and Responsive Classroom practices
  • Participate in a brief staff prayer to start the day at 7:35 sharp on Monday through Thursday in the Gathering Place
  • Participate in school engagement events to promote positive school culture
  • Complete arrival and dismissal duties as assigned
  • Fulfill essential job functions based on one’s specific job description; and during times of school drills or emergencies, assist others as able.
  • Be on time, appropriately dressed and ready for work at assigned days/times.
Essential Job Functions Relative to Role as Technology Coordinator
  • Collaborate with staff in providing leadership for short and long range planning for all technology initiatives: vision, goals, program objectives, infrastructure, staffing, training, evaluation, budgeting, and collaboration with others.
  • Support Head of School, administration team and teaching staff in integration of technology in the ongoing instructional program for all curriculum areas by identifying strategies and materials, and by implementing activities for integration.
  • Prepare and maintain records, files, logs, spreadsheets and reports related to personnel, inventory, supplies, work performed and staff training.
  • Plan, develop, and implement technology staff development activities.
  • Install, configure, and upgrade operating systems and software.
  • Install, assemble, and configure computers, monitors, network infrastructure and peripherals such as printers, scanners, digital imaging devices, and projectors.
  • Direct installers to pull cables and rewire or direct the rewiring of cables as required for new installations and office or classroom reconfiguration.
  • Troubleshoot problems with computer systems, including hardware and software, email, network and peripheral equipment problems, makes repairs and corrections where needed.
  • Act as a technical resource in assisting teachers and office staff to resolve problems with equipment and data; facilitate the exchange of information, help, and advice; implement solutions or notify outsource providers as required.
  • Make hardware and software acquisition recommendations including helping teachers and staff assess needs and providing justification for equipment and services.
  • Maintain current knowledge of hardware, software and network technology and recommend modifications as necessary.
  • Oversee the inventory of all technology assets.
  • Recommend purchases, and assist in preparation of annual technology budget.
  • Take charge of projects with a sense of urgency, good judgment, and good business sense.
  • Organize own work, set priorities, and meet critical time deadlines.
  • Work independently with limited direction.
  • Interface effectively in a team environment, as well as with various levels of staff, students, board and committee members, volunteers, and parents.
  • Assist users with software and hardware direction, guidance, and vision-setting.
  • Train educators in the use of hardware and software to meet technology goals and required staff competencies.
Essential Functions Relative to Member of Daystar’s Administrative Team
  • Provide reports to the Daystar Board as requested
  • Serve on schoolwide committees as requested
  • Participate in and assist with planning and implementation of staff wide professional development
  • Participate in regular Administrative Team meetings, providing counsel and insight on areas impacting the school as a whole
  • Participate in planning and management of schoolwide events including but not limited to back to school parent and student events, parent-teacher conferences, holiday programs, learning showcase nights, athletic banquets, middle and high school special events, and 8th and 12th grade graduation ceremonies.
