Job summary

Baptist Memorial Health is seeking a Radiology Technologist to operate radiology equipment and perform diagnostic procedures in CT and X-Ray specialties according to physician orders and hospital standards.

The role emphasizes patient safety, proper positioning, equipment maintenance, documentation, and collaboration with the care team in ED and Inpatient units; BLS/ARRT eligible licensure required within specified timeframes.

Qualifications

• Completion of radiography program accredited by ARRT.
• ARRT certification within 14 days of hire; state license as required.
• BLS Certification within 14 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Performs radiologic procedures using proper techniques as requested by a licensed physician.
• Selects and computes exposure settings for each patient.
• Develops and implements procedure/treatment plans per hospital protocols.
• Maintains equipment, rooms, and work areas in a neat and safe condition.
• Participates in performance improvement activities and collects quality data.
• Provides basic bedside care and support in ED and Inpatient Unit under supervision.
• Assists with patient stabilization and life support in collaboration with the care team.
• Monitors patient condition, reports concerns, and takes appropriate action.
• Collects laboratory samples and performs lab testing per CLIA regulations.
• Demonstrates ability to perform quality controls and routine maintenance.
• Prepares patient meals per physician orders and hospital protocols.
• Supports patient registration functions and best-in-class patient experience.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Summary

Operates radiology equipment and performs routine diagnostic procedures as prescribed by physicians according to established standards and practices to aid in the diagnosis and/or treatment of disease. Routinely works in CT and X-Ray specialties.

Job Responsibilities

• Performs radiologic procedures using appropriate technical and safety method as requested by a licensed physician.
• Exercise judgement in selecting and computing settings for each patient.
• Develop an appropriate procedure/treatment plan.
• Implements procedure/treatment plan utilizing established hospital protocols/guidelines.
• Completes documentation as required to comply with hospital policies and procedures.
• Maintains equipment, procedure/treatment rooms, and work areas in a neat and safe condition to ensure the safety of patients and staff.
• Participates in hospital and departmental performance improvement activities to ensure that patient care is consistent with established standards. Collects quality data for monitoring performance improvement.
• Completes assigned goals.
• Provides basic bedside care and support in the Emergency Department and Inpatient Unit under the supervision of the RN or physician, anticipating and responding to patient needs.
• Assists with patient stabilization and life support measures in collaboration with the care team, following appropriate admission, discharge, and transfer procedures.
• Monitors for changes in patient condition, report concerns, and initiates appropriate actions within scope
• Collects laboratory samples and performs lab testing in accordance with CLIA regulations and established policies and procedures.
• Demonstrates ability to perform laboratory quality controls and assessments and routine daily, weekly, monthly, and periodic maintenance and function according to laboratory policy and procedure.
• Prepares patient meals in accordance with physician orders and hospital protocols.
• Supports patient registration functions as needed.
• Supports a best-in-class patient experience by utilizing downtime as productively as possible.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Specifications

Experience as obtained through the completion of a Radiology Technology Program.

Education

Completion of a formal education program in radiography accredited by a mechanism acceptable to ARRT.

Special Skills

Demonstrates a thorough understanding of Radiologic principals/theory. Utilizes the most appropriate technique and positioning for optimal procedures/treatments as demonstrated by procedure/treatment results. Demonstrates ability to receive and follow written and oral instructions; ability to plan and organize work.

Licensure

ARRT(R); BLS Certification within 14 days of hire. New graduate who will obtain required registry within 120 days of hire. State license as required.
