Job summary

Akumin Wichita is hiring a part-time Tech Assistant to support radiology and radiation therapy services. This role focuses on delivering high standards of patient care and assisting clinicians in a fast-paced environment.

Key duties include helping therapists with safe patient handling, coordinating patient flow, maintaining equipment, and ensuring safety procedures are followed. Strong communication and software familiarity are valued.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
• BLS certification is required.
• Must possess excellent people skills and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to interact with Radiation Oncologists, physicians, and staff with credibility.

Responsibilities

• Assist therapists with safe patient handling and mobility.
• Coordinate patient flow to/from changing rooms and Radiation Therapy department.
• Manage clinical inventory and coordinate supply orders.
• Perform daily checks of equipment and transport items.
• Maintain courteous communication with patients and staff.
• Follow Universal Precaution and radiation safety protocols.

We are currently hiring for a Tech Assistant at our Akumin Wichita facility. This will be a part time position.

The Technologist Assistant is responsible for ensuring that the delivery of the high standards of patient care mandated by the organization are met in the provision of services and in the interaction with patients, families, physicians, and other personnel

Specific duties include, but are not limited to:

• Support therapists in safe patient handling and mobility (SPHM) activities, including transfers, lifting, turning, and ambulation
• Help coordinate patient flow to and from the changing rooms, and in and out of the Radiation Therapy department.
• Manages clinical inventory, performing regular checks and coordinating supply orders to ensure continuous service availability.
• Performs daily maintenance of blanket and contrast warmer, refrigerator temperature checks, and transport equipment. (wheelchairs, stretchers, oxygen tanks, etc.)
• Demonstrates courteous, respectful communication with patients, visitors, and coworkers.
• Uses aseptic technique, maintains knowledge of Universal Precaution and radiation safety protocols.
• Performs other relevant duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Position Requirements:

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
• BLS
• Must possess excellent people skills, a high level of adaptability and problem-solving capabilities.
• The ability to interact with Radiation Oncologists, referring physicians, and center personnel while maintaining a high level of credibility in a demanding environment is of utmost importance.
• Familiarity with current software packages such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, HIS/RIS and PACS

Preferred:

• Associate Degree
• BLS and ACLS preferred
• One-year experience in the medical field
