Job summary

Akumin Wichita is hiring a part-time Tech Assistant to support therapists with patient handling and mobility, coordinate patient flow, and manage supplies in a fast-paced radiology and radiation therapy setting.

You will work closely with physicians and staff, maintain safety protocols, and ensure high standards of patient care. Prior healthcare experience is a plus, with opportunities for training and advancement.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Current BLS certification required.
  • Strong people skills and adaptability for patient interactions.
  • Ability to interact with Radiation Oncologists and center staff in a demanding environment.
  • Familiarity with Word, Excel, Outlook, HIS/RIS and PACS.
  • Preferred: Associate Degree.
  • BLS and ACLS certifications preferred.
  • One year of experience in the medical field.

Responsibilities

  • Support therapists in safe patient handling and mobility.
  • Coordinate patient flow to and from the changing rooms and Radiation Therapy department.
  • Manage clinical inventory and coordinate supply orders.
  • Perform daily maintenance of equipment and temperature/transport checks.
  • Demonstrate courteous communication with patients, visitors, and coworkers.
  • Follow Universal Precautions and radiation safety protocols.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

We are currently hiring for a Tech Assistant at our Akumin Wichita facility. This will be a part time position. The Technologist Assistant is responsible for ensuring that the delivery of the high standards of patient care mandated by the organization are met in the provision of services and in the interaction with patients, families, physicians, and other personnel.

Specific duties include, but are not limited to:
  • Support therapists in safe patient handling and mobility (SPHM) activities, including transfers, lifting, turning, and ambulation
  • Help coordinate patient flow to and from the changing rooms, and in and out of the Radiation Therapy department.
  • Manages clinical inventory, performing regular checks and coordinating supply orders to ensure continuous service availability.
  • Performs daily maintenance of blanket and contrast warmer, refrigerator temperature checks, and transport equipment. (wheelchairs, stretchers, oxygen tanks, etc.)
  • Demonstrates courteous, respectful communication with patients, visitors, and coworkers.
  • Uses aseptic technique, maintains knowledge of Universal Precaution and radiation safety protocols.
  • Performs other relevant duties and responsibilities as assigned.

  • BLS
  • Must possess excellent people skills, a high level of adaptability and problem-solving capabilities.
  • The ability to interact with Radiation Oncologists, referring physicians, and center personnel while maintaining a high level of credibility in a demanding environment is of utmost importance.
  • Familiarity with current software packages such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, HIS/RIS and PACS
  • Preferred: Associate Degree
  • BLS and ACLS preferred
  • One-year experience in the medical field
