Job summary

Labcorp in Houston, TX is seeking a Technical Consultant to join our team. Monday–Friday 8:00 am–4:30 pm schedule. Responsibilities include overseeing technical lab components and ensuring reliable patient results, while collaborating with the Technical Director and Supervisors.

Ideal candidates hold a Bachelor’s degree in a chemical/biological science and 5+ years of CLIA/CAP lab experience. ASCP/AMT certification preferred and familiarity with Labcorp IT systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a Chemical or Biological Science, Clinical Laboratory Science, or Medical Technology.
• 5+ years of clinical laboratory experience in a CLIA or CAP environment.
• ASCP or AMT certification preferred.
• Hands-on experience with laboratory procedures.
• Familiarity with Labcorp IT systems (LCLS, LCWS, SIS, eAssist).

Responsibilities

• Oversee technical component of the laboratory to ensure patient results are reported reliably.
• Work with Technical Director and Supervisors to ensure lab testing accuracy and identify root causes.
• Provide technical support (validations, verifications) as needed.
• Respond to technical client inquiries and communicate with physicians, nurses, and LabCorp staff.
• Project credibility and build rapport with doctors and LabCorp clients.
• Assist in review, interpretation, and reporting of complex and routine test results.
• Share ideas on technical improvements and adhere to lab policies and procedures.
• Assist with other special projects as needed.

LabCorp is seeking a Technical Consultant to join our team Houston, TX.

Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00 am - 4:30 pm.

Job Responsibilities

• Assisting in overseeing the technical component of the laboratory to ensure that patient results are reported reliably, including reviewing AMR studies and instrument comparisons
• Working with the Technical Director and Technical Supervisors to ensure accuracy for all testing in the lab, including instrument performance and identifying root causes when issues arise
• Provide additional technical support to Technical Director and Technical Supervisors as needed (e.g. validations, verification)
• Accurately responds to client inquires that are technical in nature and elevate, as needed
• Effectively communicates with clients, physicians, nurses, and LabCorp staff and provides technical expertise, as needed
• Projects credibility and builds rapport with medical doctors/LabCorp clients, providing quick/accurate responses to inquires
• Assists in the review, interpretation, and reporting of complex and routine test results
• Shares experiences and ideas on technical improvements
• Adheres to laboratory policies and procedures
• Assist with other special projects, as needed

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a Chemical or Biological Science, Clinical Laboratory Science, or Medical Technology
• 5 years or more of clinical laboratory experience in a CLIA, CAP laboratory environment

Preferred Qualification

• Current or prior Labcorp experience
• ASCP or AMT certification

Additional Job Standards

• Have demonstrated hands-on experience with laboratory procedures
• Familiarity with LCLS, LCWS, SIS, eAssist, and other Labcorp IT systems
• Skilled in the use of Microsoft Office and EP Evaluator
• Demonstrated proficiency in the Department Name along with strong knowledge of scientific concepts and effective clinical practices/procedures
• Excellent technical and problem solving skills
• Discretion in handling confidential information
• Able to pass a standardized color blindness test
• The position requires the candidate to be extremely organized. Working to tight deadlines, flexibility in approach, exceptional communication skills and attention to detail are essential.
