Job Title: Technician-Video Monitoring at Baptist Memorial Health Care

Overview

Provides virtual observation of selected patients to promote and protect the patient’s safety as directed and in accordance with BMHCC policies and procedures. Performs other duties as assigned. Works under the supervision of a nurse manager and directly supervised by a shift leader.

Job Responsibilities

1. Remotely and continually observes multiple patients to identify behaviors that could be potentially hazardous to patients or others.
2. Identifies safety concerns, documents safety-related observations, and communicates patient needs and concerns to nursing staff.
3. Recognizes and verbally intervenes/ interacts with patients professionally and compassionately to redirect behaviors that threaten patient safety. Alerts nursing staff immediately if physical intervention is required.
4. Accurately documents observations, interventions, and events in tele-sitting software according to defined procedures.
5. Participates in ongoing educational activities and completes assigned goals.

Minimum Requirements

• At least 1 year of experience in a healthcare role requiring direct, professional, and compassionate communication with patients and families (e.g., nursing home, hospital, home care, phlebotomy, transporter).
• High school diploma or GED; skilled in clear, effective communication in written, oral, and verbal English; able to record information accurately.
• Ability to sit for long periods, focus, multi-task, and observe multiple patients simultaneously. Computer literacy, critical thinking, assertiveness, organization, professionalism, and a clear speaking voice over microphone.

Preferred/Desired Qualifications

• Completion of approved nursing, medical assistant, or allied health courses.
• Bilingual/multilingual skills preferred.
• Knowledge of medical technology is a plus.
