Job Title: Technician, Technology Support II

Pay Program: Support Staff Non-Exempt

Pay Range: Hourly Range 21 ($32.10 - $35.74)

Work Year: YearRound / 8 hours per day

Reports to: Lead Field Operations Technician

Direct Reports: This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Summary

Operating under the general direction of the Lead Field Operations Technician, the Technology Support Technician II serves as a primary customer service representative for on-site technology support. This position is responsible for addressing a variety of hardware and software issues while focusing on the administration of enterprise-level software for managing software installations and computer re-imaging. The role also serves as an escalation point for technical issues beyond the scope of other technicians, providing advanced troubleshooting and guidance. Additional responsibilities include maintaining inventory records and assisting with district-wide technology initiatives to ensure consistent, reliable, and innovative support for all users.

Job Responsibility Description

Remote and On-Site Technology Support

  • Provide remote and on-site support for assigned locations, resolving a wide range of hardware and software issues independently, with minimal assistance.
  • Troubleshoot and repair technical problems related to desktops, laptops, mobile devices, printers, interactive technology, and other peripherals.
  • Address user account management tasks in Active Directory, Google Workspace, and other district-supported platforms.
  • Maintain a high level of customer service during face-to-face interactions, ensuring cooperative and effective resolutions.

Enterprise-Level Software Administration

  • Administer and manage enterprise-level software systems used for software deployment and computer re-imaging.
  • Develop, update, and maintain imaging solutions to ensure compatibility with district hardware standards and software requirements.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to design, test, and deploy new imaging and software installation strategies.

Escalation and Advanced Troubleshooting

  • Serve as an escalation point for complex technical issues that require advanced expertise, guiding and supporting other technicians in resolving these challenges.
  • Conduct in-depth diagnostics and implement solutions for persistent or critical technical problems.

Inventory Management and Technology Upgrades

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of inventory at assigned sites, including computers, parts, and peripherals.
  • Document repair and replacement logs promptly and ensure equipment is properly labeled, tracked, and accounted for.
  • Assist in updating and managing a master inventory list, including parts and computer replacements.
  • Contribute to upgrade and improvement initiatives, including lifecycle replacement planning and researching emerging technologies.
  • Assist with implementing new systems and collaborate with colleagues to assess equipment needs, recommend solutions, and plan future upgrades aligned with district goals.

Mentorship, Research, and Department Goals

  • Support Technology Support Technician I staff in building their technology knowledge and skills.
  • Conduct entry-level research and analysis to support department projects and goals.
  • Attend meetings, present findings and provide recommendations as needed.
  • Participate in technology outreach efforts in schools and contribute to annual goal-setting for Support Technicians.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience

Acceptable demonstration of acceptable education and/or experience will be at the sole discretion of the District.

  • Associate's degree in a related technical discipline, or equivalent related technical/training courses/programs required
  • More than three years of experience in computer installation, maintenance and repair for hardware and software including experience supporting remote network access, wireless access configurations, disk imaging and software package creation and deployment required

Licenses, Registrations or Certifications

  • Criminal background check required for hire
  • Valid Colorado driver's license required for hire
  • Submit a current Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) and meet the Colorado School Districts Self Insurance Pool (CSDSIP) insurability standards at the time of hire and throughout employment
  • Employee must obtain and maintain the District's Small Vehicle Permit within 60 days of hire
  • Must be able to lift 35 pounds. Lift test required at time of hire
  • CompTIA certifications (e.g., Network+ Security +) preferred

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Operating knowledge of and experience with software programs for word processing, spreadsheets, schematics, email, and online computing platforms including G-Suite and Office 365 integrated educational packages
  • Operating knowledge of and experience with installation and administration of network hardware and software and integration of desktop software
  • Operating knowledge of and experience with Active Directory and Group Policy to manage client systems
  • Operating knowledge of and experience with end-point systems management solutions for computer imaging and software deployment
  • Expertise in understanding and applying technical vernacular in publications including printer scripts
  • Expertise working with and applying procedures for the District's Active Directory and Group Policy
  • Ability to be adaptable and flexible with collaborative critical thinking and problem-solving capabilities
  • Clear and effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong customer service skills, with the ability to provide support in a professional and approachable manner
  • Commitment to handling sensitive and confidential information with the highest ethical standards
  • Strong interpersonal skills to collaborate with staff and various stakeholders
  • Ability to lead, communicate, interact and work effectively and cooperatively with people from diverse ethnic and educational backgrounds
  • Ability to follow applicable federal, state, local laws and Board of Education policies, in addition to building and department procedures
  • Ability to recognize the importance of safety in the workplace, follow safety rules, practice safe work habits, utilize appropriate safety equipment and report unsafe conditions to the appropriate administrator
  • Expertise in administering enterprise-level software for imaging and software deployment
  • Strong technical troubleshooting skills for hardware, software, and networking issues
