Job summary

Ascension in Elk Grove Village, IL is seeking a Central Service Tech specialized in Sterile Processing for an evening shift (3:00 p.m. – 11:30 p.m.), full-time role in the Sterile Processing Department.

The position requires inspecting, testing, decontaminating, sterilizing instruments, assembling sets, maintaining inventory, and ensuring readiness for case carts. Training and credentialing in sterile processing are preferred.

Qualifications

• Central Service Tech specializing in Sterile Processing credential preferred.
• Knowledge of decontamination, sterilization and instrument tracking.
• Experience in assembling and verifying instrument sets.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, test, and maintain surgical instruments, sets, and containers.
• Perform decontamination and sterilization following protocols.
• Assemble and verify instrument sets and track against sheets.
• Maintain inventory levels to support case carts.

How you’ll make an impact in this role

• Ability to work 3:00 p.m. - 11:30 p.m. Monday - Friday and rotating weekends
• Inspect, test, and maintain surgical instruments, sets, and containers for proper functioning, cleanliness, and repair needs.
• Perform decontamination and sterilization of equipment and instruments following established protocols.
• Assemble and verify instrument sets against current standards, count sheets, and tracking systems.
• Maintain adequate inventory levels to ensure availability for case carts

What Minimum Requirements You’ll Need

• Central Service Tech specializing in Sterile Processing credentialed from the Healthcare Sterile Processing Association preferred.
• Central Service Tech specializing in Sterile Processing credentialed from the Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution (CBSPD) preferred.

Education

• High School diploma equivalency OR 1 year of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.
• Note: Required professional licensure/certification can be used in lieu of education or experience, if applicable.
