Job summary

First Solar is seeking a Quality Assurance professional to support manufacturing by performing quality audits of standard work, in-process items, finished products, and incoming parts, and by analyzing data for trends and process capability.

The role requires 5+ years in manufacturing, 2+ years with ISO Quality Systems (internal audits, SPC, JMP), ASQ credentials desired, and a 2-year technical degree (BS preferred).

  • 2 years’ experience working with an ISO Quality System; including Internal Audits, use of SPC techniques, and JMP Data Analytics.
  • Experience including ASQ Certification (CMI, CPT, CQA) desired.

Responsibilities

  • Complete assignments and projects with minimal supervision.
  • Inspect incoming materials and outgoing product; provide feedback for corrective/preventive action.
  • Maintain Quality Control Procedures and records per Company Policy and ISO Standards.
  • Complete internal audits per a defined schedule including documentation of findings.
  • Train personnel on various quality programs.
  • Define and implement corrective/preventive actions and continuous improvement activities.
  • Foster effective communications and teamwork.
  • Interface with other departments and supplier representatives.
  • Adhere to safety procedures and housekeeping standards.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Basic Job Functions:
  • Provide Quality Assurance support to manufacturing departments by performing quality audits of standard work, work in process, finished products, incoming parts, etc. Collect and analyze data for trends, process capability and machine reliability. Work with manufacturing supervisors and engineers to implement corrective actions, employee training and scrap reduction.
Education/Experience:
  • 5 years’ or more experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • 2 years’ experience working with an ISO Quality System; including Internal Audits, use of SPC techniques, and JMP Data Analytics.
  • Experience including ASQ Certification (CMI, CPT, CQA) desired.
  • 2-year Technical Degree.
  • 4-year B.S. degree highly desired.
Required Skills/Competencies:

  • Proven problem-solving skills, including use of basic quality tools (Pareto analysis, SPC, gage R & R, etc.).

Essential Responsibilities:

Reporting Relationships:
  • This position reports to the Plant Quality Engineer.
Travel:
  • 0% - 5% (On occasion/as needed for training, etc.)
Estimated Salary Range:
  • $17.84 - $25.00
US Physical Requirements:
  • Will sit, stand, or walk short distances for up to 12 hours per day.
  • Will climb stairs or steps on a frequent basis.
  • Will lift up to 58 pounds on an occasional basis, according to work instruction.
  • Will lift up to 37 pounds on a frequent basis.
  • Will push or pull up to 50 pounds of force on an occasional basis.
  • Will push or pull up 37 pounds of force on a frequent basis.
  • Required to use hands to grasp, lift, handle, carry or feel objects on a frequent basis.
  • 20/40 vision in each eye separately and both eyes (with or without correction), the ability to distinguish between red, yellow, and green and peripheral vision >70 degrees is required.
  • May reach above shoulder heights and below the waist on a frequent basis.
  • May stoop, kneel, or bend, on an occasional basis.
  • Must comply with all safety standards and procedures.
  • Ability to wear personal protective equipment is required (including, but not limited to: steel-toed shoes, cut-resistant gloves, jackets aprons &/or arm guards, safety glasses or goggles, hearing protection & respirators) as a condition of employment and continued employment (requires little or no facial hair).
