Job summary

Copeland is seeking a Centrifugal Technician based in Rushville, IN, to assemble and disassemble mechanical and electrical components for commercial air conditioning systems. You will inspect, troubleshoot, and repair assemblies, using precision tools and engineering drawings to meet exact specifications.

The role requires at least 2 years of post-secondary training or equivalent experience, strong math and communication skills, and the ability to read complex drawings.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years post-secondary training working with Manufacturing or Quality Engineers; or equivalent experience.
  • Strong mathematical and communication skills; must have coordination and manual dexterity.
  • Attention to detail and ability to follow complex drawings/specifications.
  • Ability to meet tight deadlines and work under pressure.
  • Knowledge of quality control measures and procedures.
  • Proactive problem solver willing to learn and take on challenges.
  • PC skills and experience with Microsoft Office.

Position Overview

Work Schedule: Fri-Sun; 5:00am – 5:30pm

AS A CENTRIFUGAL TECHNICIAN, YOU WILL:

  • Assemble and/or disassemble mechanical and electrical components, using precision tools and proper techniques, according to engineering drawings (QII/Work Instructions) and specifications.
  • Inspect parts and completed assemblies for defects, ensuring compliance with quality standards, and identifying any issues that may need correction.
  • Use measuring devices, operate electro‑mechanical assembly and testing equipment, and tools to assure product is manufactured to the required specifications.
  • Utilize various assembly tools and machines like power tools, torque wrenches, and automated equipment to perform tasks efficiently.
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve/repair assembly issues, including misaligned parts, faulty components, testing failure, or incorrect procedures.
  • Set-up and operate equipment to achieve quality the first time in each process.
  • Train others in proper operation, setup, inspection, and problem solving, to assure product is manufactured per the required cycle time.
  • Collaborate with other assembly technicians, engineering, and quality control to ensure efficient assembly processes.
  • Utilize lifts, overhead hoists, and motorized wheeled equipment to move products around the work cell as needed.
  • Maintain accurate records of production data, testing results, and other reports related to the assembly process.
  • Make recommendations for improvement to the assembly process to increase efficiency and reduce production costs.
  • Follow safety procedures and guidelines to ensure a safe work environment.
  • Keep tools, equipment, and all aspects of the assembly work areas straight, organized, and clean daily.
  • Understand how to read part detail and assembly drawings, manuals, and specifications to determine dimensions, tolerances, and sequence of operations for finished work piece.
  • Verify conformance of finished work pieces to specifications.
  • Operate assembly robot and troubleshoot when necessary.
  • Diagnose issues and troubleshoot problems by consulting with engineers, quality, production personnel, programmers or others on solutions.
  • Train other team members on assigned processes.
  • Serve as Team Leader within the department, to ensure we meet safety, quality, and delivery expectations of product cell.
  • Performs operator responsible preventative maintenance on equipment as required.
  • All other duties assigned.
  • Comply with all OSHA standards, safety regulations and company processes and procedures.
Required Education, Experience & Skills
  • Minimum of 2 years post-secondary training working with Manufacturing or Quality Engineers; or equivalent experience.
  • Strong mathematical and communication skills Must have coordination and manual dexterity to work with fine movements.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to follow complex drawings/specifications.
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Knowledge of quality control measures and procedures.
  • Must be a proactive problem solver, willing to learn and accept challenges.
  • Must have personal computer skills and experience with Microsoft Office programs, etc.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50lbs.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, squat, and push or pull parts or containers on a regular basis.
  • Ability to stand and/or walk for extended periods of time Legal Authorization to work in the United States - Sponsorship will not be provided for this role.
Preferred Education, Experience & Skills
  • Associate's degree plus one (1) year of experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience Experience in mechanical, HVAC, and/or electrical/electronic troubleshooting and repair
