Job summary

Kirby is seeking skilled marine technicians to diagnose and repair both commercial and pleasure vessels at dock or sea. You will work with engines, propulsion, electronics, and subassemblies, ensuring high-quality workmanship.

The role offers a $30–$50 per hour pay range with sign-on bonuses for Tech I–II ($1,000) and Tech III ($2,000). Overtime, travel and a full benefits package are common. There is a strong emphasis on safety and customer service.

Qualifications

Must have a High School diploma or GED with 5+ years of related experience.
Technical degree or certification in a diesel engine program preferred.
Full set of basic hand tools incl. torque wrenches is necessary.
Valid driver’s license with clean record required.

Responsibilities

Diagnose problems and perform complex major repairs on customer vessels at dock or sea.
Coordinate with parts to identify and order necessary components.
Perform routine maintenance per guidelines and schedules.
Complete work orders and timesheets accurately and promptly.
Occasionally work overtime, weekends or holidays to finish repairs.
Maintain a safe, clean work environment and follow quality standards.

Job description

Responsible for diagnosing problems and performing complex and/or major mechanical repairs on the customer’s vessel, both commercial and pleasure craft applications, at dock or sea on customer's equipment including engines, engine components, propulsion systems, electronics, and subassemblies.

Salary Range: $30.00 - $50.00 per hour

Sign-On Bonus:

Tech I - Tech II: $1000
Tech III: $2000

Responsibilities

Accurately trouble shoot and diagnose all problems on customer equipment and perform complex and/or major repairs as required.
Work with parts department to identify and order parts necessary to complete repairs and routine maintenance.
Perform routine maintenance on equipment according to established guidelines and schedules.
Complete all work orders and time sheets in a legible, accurate and timely manner.
Must be available to work overtime hours as required to complete repairs, including occasional weekends and holidays.
Ability to work independently in a safe and efficient manner.
Maintain a clean and safe work environment .
Perform all work in accordance with established quality standards and safety procedures.

Education/Experience

High School diploma or GED along with 5+ years of related experience required
Technical degree or certification in a diesel engine program preferred
Full complement of basic hand tools, both standard & metric, including torque wrenches, are necessary
Valid driver's license with a clean driving record a must

Skills & Abilities

Basic computer navigation and utilization skills required.
