Job summary

Kirby Corporation seeks an experienced marine diesel technician to diagnose and repair vessels for commercial and pleasure craft, on-site at customer locations or at sea. You will work on engines, propulsion systems, electronics, and subassemblies with a focus on safety and reliability.

Responsibilities include troubleshooting, ordering parts, performing routine maintenance, and completing work orders and timesheets. Overtime, weekends, and travel may be required.

Qualifications

High School diploma or GED with 5+ years related mechanical experience.
Diesel engine program certification is preferred.
Valid driver’s license with clean driving record required.

Responsibilities

Troubleshoot and diagnose problems on customer equipment and perform major repairs.
Work with parts department to identify and order parts for repairs and maintenance.

Job description

Overview

Responsible for diagnosing problems and performing complex and/or major mechanical repairs on the customer’s vessel, both commercial and pleasure craft applications, at dock or sea on customer's equipment including engines, engine components, propulsion systems, electronics, and subassemblies.

Salary Range: $30.00 - $50.00 per hour

Sign-On Bonus:

Tech I - Tech II: $1000

Tech III: $2000

Responsibilities

Accurately trouble shoot and diagnose all problems on customer equipment and perform complex and/or major repairs as required.
Work with parts department to identify and order parts necessary to complete repairs and routine maintenance.
Perform routine maintenance on equipment according to established guidelines and schedules.
Complete all work orders and time sheets in a legible, accurate and timely manner.
Must be available to work overtime hours as required to complete repairs, including occasional weekends and holidays.
Ability to work independently in a safe and efficient manner.
Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
Perform all work in accordance with established quality standards and safety procedures.

Qualifications

Education/Experience:

High School diploma or GED along with 5+ years of related experience required
Technical degree or certification in a diesel engine program preferred
Full complement of basic hand tools, both standard & metric, including torque wrenches, are necessary
Valid driver's license with a clean driving record a must

SKILLS & ABILITIES

Basic computer navigation and utilization skills required.
Ability to utilize laptop and portable diagnostic tools required.
Experience with Adobe Acrobat and Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel
